Great post. I love my LD01 SS :)

Yes. The LD01 reflector works differently than other Fenix reflectors - my LD01 doesn't have a donut hole at any distance. (other Fenix's I've seen and owned had a donut hole up to ~ 1').

Agreed! Especially with the SS model--not sure why--I have found the beam to be exceptionally beautiful. I know that the creamy white part is part of the LED lottery in general, but gosh, my LD01-SS has the best color of all my lights--save the little Lummi Wee's warm color which is frankly astounding! In fact, I wonder what McGizmo would say about the color as compared to his SunDrop light. :sssh:

I forgot to mention that - yes, the tint is very good on mine too, a real creamy white. Seems like we're seeing a bit more consistency than the standard LED lottery :twothumbs.

gunga, I looked and can't find it either. Which is odd because I read it and must have remembered half the words in the title to search for...

apples, oranges, and grapes.

...and pears

all great lights, though

Agreed! These are very disparate and yet I am drawn to them all! I think that, minus the D10, the others are all contenders for bright keychain lights, so that's reasonable. None-the-less, I love them all and think about them all the time, so perhaps it's a more random comparison, but maybe other folks like me will also be drawn to them and can read about them here.

I can't be that unique in that I can only carry pretty much one small(ish) light and so am on a quest to find the "perfect" one. Each of these lights has facets of the perfection I seek and it is telling to mediate on them. I think perhaps that there is no perfect light, but in each well-crafted torch there is a bit of magic. Few things rival basking in the warm glow of a brilliant idea come to life.

Just got the Lightflux LF3XT today.

Add that to your list.

The light is awesome! Very well made, great beam (cree with no cree rings), super low low, etc.

Nice, StandardBattery now I got it. The latex is a really good idea--I've seen folks use a bit of clear soft plastic tubing as well for other lights. Improves the grip and the jingling.

Can you post a pic?

I wonder if anyone has tried using clear heatshrink tubing for cushioning and improved grip and, if so, what were their findings?

Thanks!

I've got heatshrink on both my L0D and D10 which makes them a lot more comfortable to hold with my teeth.

Why that's an extraordinarily brilliant implementation of heatshrink, Brother Pete!!! :twothumbs Seriously though, it makes a lot of sense, for my left front tooth was chipped by (mis)using an old AAA-cell Mini-Maglite in this very same fashion, i.e., holding it in my mouth while leaning over the engine compartment of my car, somewhere in the vicinity of 5:00 AM. "Hmmm . . . let me get just a bit closer to that voltage regulator . . ." Then....<CRACK!>

BTW -- Did you use the "regular" heatshrink tubing or the stuff with the meltable center?

Yikes! Tooth cracking = no good! I was looking at that 3M catalog of heatshrink stuff--very neat. This is a nice mod for many of these EDCs except perhaps for the Wee which is so tiny that there wouldn't be much room to wrap it!

Just regular heatshrink, but I've been thinking of trying the waterproof type too! The main thing I don't care for is that these lights look so good naked, it seems a shame to put clothes on them!

The tiny lights are my favorites--they really showcase the technology in such a usable way. This year I am giving LD01s to my brothers and a few of my close friends for Christmas--I think they will like them a lot.

Now, I wonder what the next big thing will be in small lights?!

applevision...if I remember correctly there are 3 different pills that can be dropped into a WEE. Which one do you have in yours?

Hey andygold :welcome:!

I have the 100 lumen WARM in mine. It is positively gorgeous and does put out an astounding amount of light for such a teeny tiny torch.

I put some comparison pics here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/posts/2679963#post2679963

I am thinking about getting another pill that lasts longer (probably 50 lumen) since the 100lumen goes pretty quickly...
