Re: The Lounge

Since he is so backed up with emails I'll post here and maybe someone can help. I've been looking at the k60vn, k40lvn, m30cvn. Not really sure what I want. I think the k60 looks like an awesome combo light and the sand color is great! The k40lvn has a great beam and the price is right. The m30cvn looks good and I really like 1x18650... but I have an m2xvn and I don't want to be redundant.... help! Any suggestions on my next purchase will be appreciated. 250 is my budget

If you could kick up the budget a little bit, get a TK75vnQ XML2 U3 PDTc with DriverVNX2. 5000 lumens and 366k lux. Brightet than the K60vn, throws almost as much as the K40Lvn and is a great size. 2nd most powerful combo light.

Re: The Lounge

Are the emails repetitive and asking the same questions? E. G. What battery should be used for a light? If they are maybe you can add that in the first post of each sales thread?

He usually does in post 1.

All very different lights in my mind. The K60vn is the best bang for the buck in a powerful, all purpose light. It has both throw and flood, which is what you need for the most practical working lights, IMO. For just under another $100 the TK75vnQ is a K60vn on steroids. Same size, same attributes.
The K40Lvn is a top bang for the buck big thrower. I have one and love it, but it is a specialty light. And you already have a thrower in the M2Xvn.
The M30Cvn is a much smaller, lighter flashlight in the all purpose category with a lean perhaps toward the floody.
Try to predict how would you use it. Lights that are too big and heavy, might end up staying home more. Too conservative may cause you to wish for more. Multiple lights can fill each category (that's where you'll end up anyway, LOL)

Re: The Lounge

Question for Vinh or anybody else for that matter. What is the most lux you have gotten out of a p60 sized reflector? And what emitter did you use?

I bought a cheap light bar on sale locally and performance sucks. No throw. But i have hope. Trying to decide if it's worth trying to upgrade it and how much CD might be possible with this thing.

It looks like I could easily replace the tiny reflectors with p60 reflectors or a bit bigger if I shave the sides a little to nest them to the right spacing. Replacing the emitters with dedomed xpe2s might be an option too, but I suck at soldering so it might go to Vinh for that.

I need at least 200k CD, and of course more is better. When you multiply the emitter count, do you correspondingly multiply the candela by the same factor?

My daily drive to work goes through deer/ elk country, way out in the middle of nowhere, so good lighting is obv super important now that its dark both to and from work. Most times I'm the only one on the road for 10-20 miles at a time. (Besides the deer lol)

If this doesn't show enough promise, I'm going to build a custom aluminum housing for some much bigger reflectors and get see if i can get vinh to wire it up for some obnoxious throw.

Vinh's P60vnG does 825 lumens and 70k lux using an XPG2 PDTc and DriverVN2.

The P60vnL does 1450 and 55k using an XML2 U3 PDTc and DriverVN2.

So they are not close to 200k lux. If you could focus all the reflectors to the same spot then 4 P60vnL would combine to equal 220k lux and 5800 lumens.

For pure throw the XPG2 PDTc look to be the best emitters for the P60 reflectors that are smooth not orange peel.

Sweet! That was the info I was wanting to hear. I didnt realize he was getting that much CD out of the p60 with the xpg2. This light bar has 12 emitters, and p60 sized reflectors will fit in there with a tiny bit of sanding on the edge where they meet. Xpg2 emitters it is. 825 x 12= 9900 lumens. 70KCD x12 =840,000 CD! That should work even if I don't quite hit those drive levels. Start on this project today after work. :naughty:

Thanks Bigwilly

Sounds awesome! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your finished product!

Re: The Lounge

Hi guys. Iwe just been reading this posts and not putting anything to the subject. Im absuloutly stunned over v54 knoweledge and other guys here on this thread! I see i got a lot of catching up to do in case of flashlights.
Im wondering since Im a diver and I also do some cave explorating so im looking to buy 2 kinds of light and ofcouse it would be a dream come true if it had v54 written on it :)
My first quiestion to this thread s this; is there anything i can do with this aliexpress chinis light.... I know it say 9k lumen but we all know thats fsr from true. It can hold 3 18650 or 3 26650... Tried both and i think plastic holder around 18650 dosent heatsink them enough but what would be the best battery for this light and is there any way to mod it up ? Or should i just beg v54 for a diving light :)

Also for headlight in cave exploration iwe been reading about zebralights and upcomming 603 and 63 lights they are putting on market bf christmas.... Is that worth waiting for or should i just also beg vinh for a moded superlight so id be happy once and for all :) ... Sorry about all misspellings.... Im icelandic so just try to ignore that ;)

Re: The Lounge

Question for Vinh or anyone else.

What is the Vinh light with the most lumens?

What is the Vinh light with the most throw (lux)?

I have a TK75vn with over 10K lumens on the way. Also, I have two DEFT-X's, with the better one having almost 1.1 million lux throw.

Here's hoping that there will be one Vinh light that beats both figures, or at least surpasses the 1.1 million lux figure. It might be tough now that Wavien is no longer in business, except by using brute force number of lumens and large deep reflector (s).

Re: The Lounge

TK75Qvn70 has 13,300 lumens after 30 seconds, and TM36vn has 903,000 lux.
Vinh has exceeded this brightness in the past, but is currently offering this level as the most reliable flashlights.

Mad777 is correct about the Q70 but the TM36Mvn does over a million lux.

Re: The Lounge

I thought Vinh was only claiming around 900,000 lux for the TM36Mvn?.. .

Vinh's lux numbers are, in general, conservative. With really high powered lights & multi-emitter lights, even more so. Vinh doesn't have the space to measure far enough away for those beams to focus.
So, keep buying his lights so that he can buy a bigger house! Lol

If anyone has both the Deft-X and the TM36Mvn, it would be nice to see some comparative beam shots .. .

Nope he says 1 million lux for the Throw King.
Definitely would like to see comparison pics as well.
My TM36vn was tested at 903k lux and it has an S3 XPG2 PDT with DriverVNX2. The M models have an S4 XPG2 PDT that is driven harder with the stock driver.

Re: The Lounge

fyi - I tested the tm36vn xpg2 dedome at 903k lux and the deftx at 935k

I believe the tm36vn was a xpg2-s2 dedome and the deftx was using an xpg2-r5 neutral

the highest xpg2 bin available now is s4 IIRC, which is aprox 14% brighter than an s2 (~21% brighter than an r5) ...... each bin is anywhere from 0 to 14% brighter than the previous... (7% average assumed)

no idea if this increase would all be visible in the "throw" measurement or not, but 1 million lux from the tm36vn seems quite reasonable with the latest xpg2 s4 bin led

fwiw some newer deft-x's hit over 1 million as well..

I dont have a beam shot of the tm36vn, but here is the deft x (click for high res)

last shot is 3600' or 1100 meters

I own the TM36vn you tested and I assumed it was an S3 so you're most likely correct. It is a beast. Here are some pics at 300 meters

I know 300 meters isn't even stretching it's legs so I want to do some shots over a kilometer.

Welcome to the club.

You could try to send your diving light to have Vinh take a look at it & see what he can do.

My zebralight H600w MK II has been incredibly reliable and I can't really imagine a better headlamp :)

Thanks for the response, I live in the mountains of virginia and use my lights to go up on strip jobs and just search around or light up fields. This light won't be a working light it will be a weekend fun light. Raccoons in trees, coyote, deer, bear. :twothumbs
