I've been into flashlights since 2016, although I've enjoyed them since I was a kid (when Maglite was king). I joined CPF in 2021 because I was researching Malkoff lights and my travels kept bringing me back here.

2021 was the also the year I learned to love simpler lights with potted electronics, bombproof construction, and uncomplicated switch behavior, which led me to start carrying Malkoffs. Warmer weather in 2022 rekindled my interest in small, lightweight, programmable lights, and I came full circle from my first true EDC -- a Zebralight SC62w I bought in 2016 -- to another Zebralight, the SC64c LE. These days I'm generally carrying that SC64c LE or a Wurkkos TS10; on trips, camping or otherwise, I generally add my Malkoff Hound Dog 18650 XT.

I like lots of other lights, too: the Noctigon Meteor that got me into flashlights (pictured in my avatar), my $9 Wurkkos penlight, the Armytek Elf I use for backpacking and caving, my Noctigon K1 (which throws nearly a mile), the gold CRI 95 Emisar D4V2 that used to be my EDC, my SureFire 6P with Malkoff M61N (high) drop-in and a metal bezel ring, etc. Flashlights are nifty. :)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. -- Dune, by Frank Herbert
