Florida Tax Holiday on Hurricane Supplies this weekend

I was at Publix and was going to buy some AAA lithium primary batteries. After I found out AAA's were not 'blessed', I told them to keep the batteries. Someone, or maybe a few, in Tallahassee need to be better informed. It's not the money but the principle of the matter. Those lithium...

Florida Tax Holiday on Hurricane Supplies this weekend

Florida has a tax holiday this weekend on hurricane supplies, that includes most general purpose batteries. Re: Batteries, including rechargeable batteries, listed sizes only (excluding automobile and boat batteries): AA-cell, C-cell, D-cell, 6-volt, 9-volt. The size AAA is excluded...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

Me too. This is the one that I use daily in a G3 with 2 AA's. I want a few more. I'm am checking daily, but I expect they will come out but once a year. Edit: Just to let you know the vendor replied this afternoon that there was no current plans to restock these.

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Just reporting a news video story: http://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/nation-now/2017/02/17/submerged-driver-credits-survival-flashlight-and-god/98045506/ Looks like he had with him and used a Surefire G2X of some sort after his truck fell into the "creek" after the WA road washed away in the...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

I noticed that I had a couple of 1.5v AA lithium batteries in storage that had been used sometime in the past. I put them into my converted G3 with the M31LLL and was surprised at the output. :) Probably too bright for normal indoor use, but nice for outdoor use. I normally use two...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

That is the drop-in I use for my Surefire G3 that has been converted to AA's. It's the light I use most often indoors, and while outside at night with my pug. The drop-in is hard to get, but there is still seven left at this time.

    Storm Clouds building

Jacksonville got lucky that the storm pretty much stayed offshore of Florida. I think the winds here were stronger on the backside of the storm. No real damage at my place. My Haiku AA worked well at night. I really need to get a small portable generator and a propane bbq grill. Lost...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

I have a M31LLL that I put into a Surefire 9P converted (with a sleeve) to use 2 AA's (generally NiMH batteries). I'm in Jacksonville, Florida. I use this light around the house the most of all my lights that have Malkoff light engines. Something tells me I will be using this light more this...

From what I can find on the internet Lester is passing north of the islands. Close enough for some island excitement I guess.

    Faraday flashlight

Youtube has a Mad TV skit "highlighting" the shake type flashlights. Search under Mad TV Flashlights. Really not suitable for the easily offended. I have had a Nightstar light in reserve since the year 2000. Better than a match & candle when all else fails. I tried it out yesterday before...

    Storm Clouds building

Power remained on all night. No damage here at my place in Jacksonville. I am sure the distance between here and the eye of the storm made the difference. Still have two more months of storm season. Wilma didn't hit until October.

    Storm Clouds building

I do have a solar panel, have never really tried it out; after a storm you tend to have more wind than sun though. Do have a boatload of primary AA's as a backup. Hope the islands get some rain but no damage. We could use the rain in NE Florida. We are about a foot low in rain for the year...

    Storm Clouds building

Storm clouds are moving over the Jacksonville, FL area tonight. I'll top off my AA NiMH batteries tomorrow that I use in my Haiku's. When Wilma in '05 hit, I had power until after the storm had passed, then lost power for three days. I know a few Haiku owners in Gainesville, FL that might...
