Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

I haven't tried it, but that looks like a good combo. The regulator will take up to about 60 volts and 15 amps, and regulates voltage downward from input to output. Four 18650's in series is about 14-16.8 volts so plenty of headroom, and as I recall the WA1185 doesn't take a lot of current.

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

Thanks! How's everyone doing? Believe it or not I am still around, just wandered through the forum a couple times in the past couple of weeks looking to replace a lost flashlight. Darn busy still, but hopefully will be getting some free time within the next year. :) Still have a pile of parts...

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

Pretty busy here. Sorry. Anyone ever find a replacement for the KIU sockets?

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

I believe those were the Leviton. They are well made but not good at holding the bulb tightly and not good at high current compared to the KIU. I have some of your KIU sockets, Lux. Have to check how many are left. There are two things about the KIU sockets that are good. One is the heavy...

How high? I can use a higher voltage FET. The regulator is not so easy to improve.

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

Hi Folks. We're still somewhere in the background. We need to find a high current socket replacement for the old so called KIU socket. I haven't looked recently but have heard they aren't available anymore. I still have a pile of parts for these regulators including the custom machined...

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

12 amps is a fairly good rating, but at what resistance? Since they are using 120 or 240 volts, they don't mind a bit of loss and heat. So we might derate it current wise for our use. Ultimately it comes down to how much voltage drop your setup will have. The KIU sockets are very low in...

Sold/Expired Orders - Programmable Hotwire Regulated Driver drop-in for D-M@g

Hi folks. I have a sample socket from FM (Thanks FM!). Have been recovering from a couple weeks being sick, and am behind on some other projects. Have boxes of parts, need to get the workbench and calendar clear enough to start building again. Unfortunately these regulators are not easy to...

Different Momentary D Mag Switch Mods

Yes, constant power to the D2Flex. The switch then provides power to the separate control input of the D2Flex when the button is depressed. It is not interrupting power to the D2Flex, the control input is a separate signal.

Different Momentary D Mag Switch Mods

That was funny. I followed donn's link to where he bought a modded switch, and there was a link there back to this thread. Circular reference! :ohgeez: I did another one of these mods awhile back and used the cutoff tool on the lathe to slip in there and cut the splines off. But really a little...

    Makita 18V LXT batteries....

Makita reportedly uses Sony Konion LiMn cells. Generally it is the first pair. There are 10each 18650 cells in 5S2P. Replacing the first two cells is possible, and has been done. I found a video about it on Utube. Not a lot of detail on replacement but lots of info about taking the pack apart...

Makita LXT with Dual Tri-Rebel head

I've been doing further research on these Makita LXT packs. As Wayne indicated they apparently don't have low voltage disconnect built in. They do appear to have a 7 amp thermal self-resetting circuit breaker that also interrupts current at high battery temperature. They also have a memory that...

    MY 10 CREES MAKITA LIGHT

Interesting that he would wake this thread just now. I was just rereading it a couple of days ago. Have a few new Makita batteries and am planning something myself. Also the Shoppe's Makita battery socket makes it really easy to get the battery connector part done.
