please point n00b to "old maglite" Xenon-to-LED conversion tips
oh, wow, those are really old, they do not even have letters in serial numbers. pre 1990 lights, do not even bother removing switches, (they are 5/64) if they fail, there are no replacements, those tubes are wider than post 90s light. so parts will not fit. you options are pretty limited with...- alpg88

there are 2 types of switch screws, old type uses 5/64 allen key, another t8 torx, but it has to be a special one, with narrow shaft, 99.9% of torx keys out there will not work, you need to either file/grind it, or get one from maglite that fits. file/grind it so the shaft is not wider than t8...- alpg88

OTOH, some bipin halogens take overdrive like champs, and we used to use it back in incandescent era. 90w 12v osram bipin takes 20v around 200watts, and about 2x as bright. so do long life mr16 take 5 li ion cells burn twice as bright.- alpg88

I find it more concerning that we use land for solar instead of growing crops, in upstate NY I see many solar farms taking place of farm fields. Farmers probably make same or more money with solar panels on their fields than crops, and no need to invest in machinery, time and effort to grow... -

Some bulbs take overdrive better than others. I had 2 oem bulbs burn in 6d using li ion 1.5v cells. it was not an instaflash, but they barely lasted 2 ch/dch cycle of batteries, I can not say I saw any noticeable increase in brightness. iirc correctly krypton bulbs take overdrive better than...- alpg88

THE problem is, bulbs are made with alkaline sag in mind, 1.5v li ions do not sag, putting more volts than lamp was designed for, i used 1.5 li ion D in a 6 D maglite with a bulb, burned 2 bulbs during short use already, i've never blown a 6cell bulb before, and i used 6d light for much longer...- alpg88
