    【New Product】XTAR D28 3600 Dive Light

I said it already before in some other thread by personally as a casual diver that travels by air I'm lookin for small affordable (around $100) light that will be small and have general (narrow-medium spot) light and video light in on package, video does not have to be much in that case, just to...

    【New Product】XTAR D28 3600 Dive Light

I don't agree that water acts as diffuser (unless is not relatively clear), and beam underwater is about 30% smaller than in air, so 8 degree in air will be about 6 in water. I only dived in caverns not caves (water surface is always nearby so no real dark big holes and no big totally dark...

Reading in Bed - Complete Darkness

No, it is not. This is a myth that that is complete bs. It tires your eyes more because eye muscle must work harder focusing and that's about it.

    Maglite Battery/Lamp Questions

If you get 3 real D size NiMh (with capacity around 10000mAh) 40W should not be a problem.

Reading in Bed - Complete Darkness

I'm using Kindle app on my phone, black background, white letters for minimal glow so it doesn't bother my wife. For me it is easier, more convenient to hold, can adjust letters size if needed. If you don't want any glow you could try phone in cheap VR googles and cover them.

    LED Spotlight

I guess you didn't get to the point where OP said 50W of light in that 1.5 degree beam (he wrote 50x50cm from 20m but this is what it is). Point me to a thrower that can do this and is smaller than satellite antenna, please, I would like to buy one. Edit: Assuming 5000lm output (that's about...

    LED Spotlight

There is no such optic, you looking for less than 1.5 degree beam angle. Even LEP has about 3 degree and is nowhere close to power you want. EDIT: Maybe you can try Ledil FCP13895_SEANNA-A and smallest LED that will give you enough power, overdrive LED.

    LED Driver

Looks like you need XI180C125V200BSF1 instead of XH180C125V200BSF1 You should be able to find them for less than $200 For example here $44.88 + @24.39 shipping to Canada

New lithiums wont discharge below 3.2 volts.

Yup, Orbtronic does not say anything about this battery, but this is most likely Sanyo UR16650ZTA which is 4.35V cell. https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Sanyo%20UR16650ZTA%202500mAh%20(Magenta)%20UK.html

Constant Current Power needed... I'm confused...

You could use something like this https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/NSI45060JD-D.PDF They are $0.89 at DigiKey for example. Look thru the spec (page 7 in particular) You can connect it with LEDs directly to AC. Well thru the bridge :-). You can use one bridge per connection point (all LEDs...

Driving an LED on a Primary CR123

Re: Driving an XP-L on a Primary CR123 Will be hard to find such drivers. You could try boost only driver but if Vf is lower than battery it would be basically like connecting battery directly to LED. Some boost drivers...

A canister made without a lathe

Hi Eskil. Nice build. I just saw you thread first time, it is a ghost town :-) Do I understand correctly that for welding batteries you just used this trafo core and DC input and it works? That's quiet ingenious. It means that applying DC to primary creates pulse in secondary that is strong...

    for the brains trust

I think LEP is fun but seems to narrow for practical use. Pity there are no real good throwers with TIR, IMHO TIR would give more lumen in beam when with reflector spill is all a waste in case of thrower (I don't like aspherics, you get throw sacrificing lot of output) Maybe something custom...
