    Soffit/Eave LED Lighting

Those modules look nice--perhaps even nicer than my spice tins, haha! I would have definitely used something like that had it been available at the time I made mine. Are those modules regulated? And for 12V or 120V? That will determine how they are wired. The eave lights I built are not...

    Cree A19 9.5w 60w 800lm 2700K for $13.97

I have an online order of six 60W-equivalent 2700K bulbs purchased through HD.com and my order status is showing "backordered until 3/20." Perhaps they will ship within the week.

Phillips 12V MR-11 LED from Home Depot

All MR11/16s are not created equal in terms of total length. I have a fixture that will barely accomodate a regular MR16 and many LED drop-ins are quite a bit longer. I ended up choosing some MSi brand ones based on the length alone, but as it turns out, these are excellent little bulbs. I...

    Fusing mains-powered arrays

Thank you, I absolutely love the lighting. I have received a lot of complements from neighbors and friends and I love the security aspect. The fact that the house is lit all the way around and only pulling 12W total is just fantastic. I want this setup as legit as possible, so I will place...

    Fusing mains-powered arrays

The power supply is current-limited by a Meanwell LPC-20-350 driver. The wiring is solid core 18 gauge and I think I ended up with around 200' of wire total. The project thread is located here, but in summary I have a GFI outlet, then a timer with the Meanwell constant current driver plugged...

    Fusing mains-powered arrays

There is no fuse now. I know most on here indicate that a LED will fry before a fuse will blow, and they rely on that and the driver's internal protection. They may be right, but I would like more than that since some LEDs can fail closed. Right now the Meanwell is attached to sheetrock in...

    Fusing mains-powered arrays

I am running ten Cree XR-Es from a Meanwell 350mA driver connected to a 120VAC GFI outlet. Because the wiring passes through my attic I want to make sure my circuit and wiring are protected in case of a driver malfunction. Would a 0.5 or 1 amp fast-blow fuse attached to the + output of the...

    LED Landscape Lighting

You might consider a small solar panel, charge panel and a battery to power it all remotely. To get you started look at solar powered gate setups, which have similar components. You'll have to size your panel and battery(s) for your estimated use.

    Eaves LED lighting project.

Nice work, I love my DIY Cree eave lights; easily one of the best things I have done to my home.

    DIY Cree Eave Lighting

In my application I probably would stick with the XR-Es. Primarily because I like the soft light level I have now--if they were much brighter they would probably start to become annoying since there are eave lights over bedroom windows. If my memory serves me correctly (and my math is...

Cree yacht lighting - need constant current driver source

I wasn't sure how the switching driver would effect communications either, so I built one light housing for the boat and put it into service last year; so far there have not been any issues and they love the light. Now I'm building a bunch more, but generally this lighting is only used when the...

Completed DIY Cree security/eave lighting project

Thanks. The bronze fixtures are Volt brand. The well lights are MR16-based and I used MSi MR16 LED replacement bulbs, which are 2700K, 44 degree optics and 300 lumens from 5 watts.

Completed DIY Cree security/eave lighting project

I wanted to bump this thread and update some information I posted above. I had some issues with the Malibu LED landscape light set I bought. Within a very short time I went through three of the spotlights, they kept filling with water and shorting out due to sloppy fixture craftsmanship. The...

    DIY Cree Eave Lighting

XP-Gs and XM-L's did not exist when the OP and I did our eave light projects. They run 12+ hours a day (through the evening hours) so they are getting their durability test daily. So far neither of us have had any issues.

    DIY Cree Eave Lighting

The OP's lights are in the eaves protected from moisture, so there really is no need to coat the LEDs in his case. We are both running ~3500K Cree XR-Es and the color is warm and inviting.
