RawNS K2 TFFC Upgrade (lots of pictures)

Interesting. I'm pretty sure that the later batches of RawNSes didn't have the 1 ohm resistor (orb stated that it was only there for the first batch due to low Vfs on the T-bin Lux IIIs he had in stock) and I haven't heard of anyone having a "venting event." I may take your lead and order some...

RawNS K2 TFFC Upgrade (lots of pictures)

Any reason? I've been running it without it for a while now, with some sustained usage on high - no ill effects thusfar. I'm not sure if I could get away with it if I wasn't using a relatively robust K2 TFFC and a relatively wimpy 14250, but it seems okay.

Streamlight Sidewinder Mod - Plans & Thoughts

Still looking for a used Sidewinder to use as a host - unless I get really desperate I'd rather not buy a brand new one and tear it apart instantly. Your post was awfully helpful though, and I think I'm going to do away with the 5mm Red and White LEDs as per your suggestion.

Assuming the module can take it, would it be possible to run 6x CR123 primaries in a 2S3P 6v configuration in an emergency?

It might be significantly easier to engrave on the flat end of the tail cap if its a C or D cell Mag.

Streamlight Sidewinder Mod - Plans & Thoughts

Ah, sorry.. I meant to include it, but I guess it got lost somewhere in the drafting of the post. Here it is: http://www.grayhill.com/web1/images/ProductImages/Rotary_50,51.pdf My issue isn't with running the IR and Red 5mm LEDs - both have forward voltages under 3v so I can use a resistor...

Streamlight Sidewinder Mod - Plans & Thoughts

It's a rotary switch, 6 position... So, if I am reading the datasheet correctly, I would connect the battery lead to the center pole of the switch and then there are 6 pins to which I can connect the leads that go to the LEDs. Each position of the switch should therefore complete a different...

Streamlight Sidewinder Mod - Plans & Thoughts

Well, may as well jump in with both feet! I've done some emitter swaps and such, but after a fruitless search for the right light for this job, I've decided the solution is to make one! As I said, I'm mostly concerned about the wiring. Heat shouldn't be too much of an issue - the stock LED...

Streamlight Sidewinder Mod - Plans & Thoughts

So for my first serious mod I'm looking to take a Streamlight Sidewinder and modify it to better fit my needs. Basically, I'm happy with the concept of the light, but I need more than the weak output on Red and the Twist/Push UI doesn't really do much for me. The White LED is also not...

Run single Cree off 3 14500 in parallel?

Have you tried lithium primaries? Expensive, but they should increase your runtime. If you're set on modding it, I don't think you need to use 14500s in parallel, as just modifying it to take AAs in series should lead to a significant runtime increase.

How bright are the Red LEDs of the Tomahawk NV on high? Are they enough to navigate the woods at night by? To illuminate things some distance away in the dark?

    Emitter Overheating slowly killing it

I recently modded a Raw NS to a K2 TFFC UW0E bin, and I also noticed that the emitter has a nice warm (well, warmer than I expected) yellow-white tint and that it does get hot quite quickly. Of course, I am direct driving it off a 14250. Anyway, I might be killing mine too, but it's worked...
