Thanks guys, I guess I will just go ahed and report back in a few months.

LED flashlight enthusiasm seems to be waning

Waning interest, for the mass market- Yes. There are a few reasons I could see why this is happening- (why people stopped buying flashlights) 1. All cellphones now have a torch and all seem to be having cellphones 2. Proliferation of solar/ Alternative energy so we are seldom left in the dark...

    Overdriving 5050 LED strips

Hello Friends, I was thinking to build a nice dimmable Photography/ Videography Light source using a palette of 5050 (or 5670) LED light strips. I will be pasting these on a copper or aluminum plate/heatsink so extra heat won't be an issue. The standard 5050 LED has 3 chips, having 60mA typical...

Underpowering COB leds by a significant ammount ?

You may under-drive them, They;ll just be happier. Use the Current Regulation method rather than Voltage Regulation.

    My leds blown, help

THis has happened to me, and its quite Painful. The thing is, one strip or ONE LED is far below the minimum count of LEDs that your driver can power. As the open circuit voltage of driver is 75v, it simply blew the LEDs.

Chinese 3W LED review [With pics]

7 years update! The LEDs are still going on very well. They see less use, but use is very harsh in Automotive Heat/Voltage Enviorment. I've added a resistor to Underdrive them somewhat. I cannot see any light output degradation yet! The tech has moved on a lot and Most lamps are COB now. But I...

    Commonly Used LED Emitter Index

This is the most useful thread on CPF, however i am afraid to report that Many image links have broken. A saloon chair has replaced LED pic on First page! Something sure is amiss!. Anyways I feel that an existing thread should be resurrected/ Repaired rather than making more new threads.

overdriving / underdriving COB led data?

Thats what I wanted. Thanks for explaining. That made me really nostalgic! I remember LED gurus like Don Klipstein, Criag Jhonson and "Odd ones' White LED info" website were goldmine for experiments and data. People like don have run EXTENSIVE test on like Likes of Seoul P4 and Luxeon 1~Lux 3...

overdriving / underdriving COB led data?

dear all, one of my favorite LED to use in random projects are the generic 10w Chinese COB. they're under rs 50 a piece and very powerful for what they are. what puzzles me is absence of any research regarding over /under driving them ?.I have found at length research about the subject on 5mm...

    Automotive HID for home lighting

mr p, I already have LED around my house as they work directly on 12v dc and they're very efficient on a Solar DC setup. I'm almost living off grid these days. the problem is, large high Power leds (above 20w ) require 21+ volts and hence a step up converter. these 35w hid, being 12v run...

    Automotive HID for home lighting

pardon me for 're-striking' the thread. I had very similar thoughts where an automotive lamp could be used for low voltage home lighting. my house runs mostly on Solar and hence has 12v DC very conveniently available all around. these automotive hid being nothing but mini metal halide bulbs...
