    Why do YOU love Maglite

Maglights are great because they are: Cheap to buy Cheap to loan (and more likely to be returned than a more expensive light) Easy to mod Known to last forever About half my lights are Maglights. The other half are Surefires and a few E01s. C.P.T.

I keep hearing on CPF how horrible alkaline batteries are

Re: I keep hearing on CPF Agreed. I use alkalines for all my regular flashlights and I've lost 2 lights to them in the past 30 years. The best thing I've found is to keep them out of temperature extremes, especially heat. C.P.T.

    Better flashlight than a 2D Mag-Lite + Malkoff Drop-In for the money?

WillJitsu, By outperform do you mean brightness or runtime? Here's a link to a thread of mine where I graphed the relative brightness and runtime of the Maglites with the Malkoff drop-ins: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3018044&postcount=259 As you can see, the 2D Mag...

Little History Lesson About Surefire(Link Inside)

Cosmo7809, Thanks for the good article. Funny where they sourced the parts for their first weaponlights. :poke::crackup::crackup: C.P.T.

    Inova X5 has been updated

That sounds like a good opening line. "Hey, those are some nice tints". I think I've been in the desert too long. C.P.T.

    EDC Pen?

I'll cast my vote for the Fisher Bullet Pen. I've had a black one in my pocket for the last 5 months for use with a Rite in the Rain notepad. This pen writes on wet paper, paper covered with sand, and in 120+ degree heat (SW Aisa). I've had it in my pocket outside in 125 degree temps for several...

Fenix E01 still a good value?

I've had an OD E01 on my keychain for the better part of a year. This past 3 months its been through 117 degree temps and several sand storms. I just clean the threads when they start to grind and it keeps on working. I keep feeding it Energizer Lithium batteries and it keeps giving me 12hrs of...

    A Collection Of Runtime Graphs

PoliceScannerMan Here you go. This is the 3D Maglite running on Alkalines. It has the 2-3D Malkoff and the 4-6D Malkoff. I've also included the 2D Maglite with the 2-3D Malkoff on Alkalines for comparison. The scale is in hours. As you can see, the 2-3D Malkoff in the 3D Mag drops off...

    A Collection Of Runtime Graphs

PoliceScannerMan, I'll see what I can do on my next day off. Internet access is a bit spotty over here so no promises. Thanks! C.P.T.

    Surefire Runtimes

Actually, I've measured the surefire 6P with the Malkoff M60LL at close to 18hrs at full output (appx 4000Lux). See this thread for the graph: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=2815326&postcount=108 If you want to go brighter, get yourself a 9P (or G3L) and the M60LL. It...

How do you get a stuck battery out of a mini-mag?

Re: mini maglite 2AA led problem So if someone runs into your Chevy and wrecks it you'd blame Chevy and not buy another one? As suggested, try a better battery setup. C.P.T.

    How to measure runtime

"Hundreds of pictures"???? That might work for a shorter running light. One of my tests ran for over 8 days. I had the meter set to log every 30 seconds and still ended up with over 21,000 entries. Capturing a picture every 3 minutes on a light that runs for 5 hours will get you 100 pictures...

    How to measure runtime

That's almost what I did on one of my Malkoffs. The 9P with a Malkoff M60 was over 20,000LUX for the first couple of minutes. I put a small piece of black foam inside the lightbox to absorb some of the output and it dropped it by appx. 700LUX (verified with 2 other lights). I just added the...

    How to measure runtime

Texlite, I love it. Here's a link to my test station. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=2866094&postcount=203 I've done a lot of runtime testing with it and it has worked well. The only problem is I'm starting to bump up against the 20,000 LUX capacity of the meter. If I...

    Favorite User Interface

Most Favorite: Push button on/off with momentary Twist on/off Least Favorites: Anything with more than 2 modes. If I can't push a button and get decent light right away I have to question the usefulness of the light in an emergency situation. C.P.T.
