    Nite Ize 3-in-1

The 3xAA was the Nite Ize Radiant 3-in-1, model NL3A-01-R7 which I bought one year ago on special order from a home center. They're now discontinued but available on Amazon. Mine is good. I shopped around back then and I'd definitely recommend it as a first flashlight. I liked the run time (# of...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

I used my Olight I3E EOS to check for excess grout that I need to wipe off of the bathroom wall. An even wider flood would have been better but I like the length of the light.

    NASA's flashlight

Here are some NASA scientists examining the James Webb Space Telescope with flashlights. Can anyone ID the flashlight by its profile? It's a snapshot of a video on this page.

It was like new for a while but tonight it flickered and when I turned it off and on it was dead.

Has anyone ever FOUND a flashlight?

I just found this thing but I was afraid to touch it. It was by the side of the road. Is this something that plugs into a car cigarette lighter? A bicycle light? The light was red.

Moderately priced, small, plastic flashlight wanted

Yeah, these days a Solitaire is an option and I'd even prefer it over the old E05.

    Heating to fix broken connections

It worked! This is what it was like before I fixed it: Then I held a heat gun to the emitter end and the battery end for several seconds each and it improved but the red and black wire insulation didn't melt at all, so I tried the heat again, for a longer period, and it worked! It seems those...

    Heating to fix broken connections

I cleaned all the contacts and the threads feel OK when I tightened it but it was worse than ever. I tried a heat gun to loosen the thread locking but I gave up with that and just filed down a nut and jammed it in the tube so I could clamp it tightly with pliers without crushing it too much...

    Heating to fix broken connections

When I turn on old, one mode Fenix E05 it becomes dim, then I have to slightly loosen it for full brightness (it shouldn't work like that). Maybe pressure on the board caused it to bend and break a connection. I could try to add some solder to the copper that touches the battery but I'd like to...

Moderately priced, small, plastic flashlight wanted

Well, there was still that issue with the tightening causing it to be dim and the sweet spot got even smaller so I'm getting a Olight i3E EOS. I just have to choose between the 120 lumen silver and the 90 lumen other colors.

Moderately priced, small, plastic flashlight wanted

I think it finally died after 6 years of light use. It became harder to turn on recently - if I tightened the head firmly it would be dim so I'd have to loosen it a little to get full brightness, and now it won't turn on. Maybe something in the board that contacts the battery broke. Or maybe it...

What jobs do people do that they need to EDC flashlights?

Once I saw a bunch of people on the ground trying to find a woman's ring under a pile of wood or something. A flashlight would have helped. Other than that, I walk on a path that's indirectly lit by highway lights. One night, when they had recently replaced the incandescent lights with LED...

I tried looking them up. All I know is they're Dorcy Heavy Duty D cells.
