    anybody seen ragget?!?

IIRC, the efficacy of flea treatments depends on repeating the treatment a few times, at specific increments, in order to disrupt several generations worth of flea babies until there are no adult fleas old enough to lay eggs and all the existing eggs have hatched. It seems like repeating a...

WTB Reflective sticker for Fire & Rescue

Generically, you could do a search for retroreflective tape and cut out your own shapes/sizes. Sometimes, I find these weird octagonal metal plates mounted on poles with "POTS" written on it; those have nice red reflective film ;)

    Cars, Man

S2000 had very efficient lowbeam projectors. Basically, for all car projectors that used the same bulb (35W d2s, as opposed to the d1r/d2r for reflectors, and the d1s which provided basically same performance but with a built-in ignitor), the OEM lowbeam projectors by Koito on both models of...

21700 has a long way to go to catch up with 18650

Lithium ion batteries made 18650 popular. I think flashlights, vapes, etc., started using 18650 BECAUSE they were so widespread and available source of highly dense energy. Then the higher power chemistries showed up, and everybody started pulling apart power tool batteries to get that sweet...

seeking amber taillights for 2023 ridgeline

^yeah, I don't feel like it'd be easy to keep the reds from flashing after adding in the aux ambers. Maybe aftermarket will have something more suitable soon. Have to choose between the aftermarket lamp maybe not meeting the intended specs to the T, vs an improvised amber not meeting the...

    Tritium spheres

b@rt used to have spheres way back when. I seem to recall he didn't think he was gonna be able to get those anymore. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/b-rts-tritium-thread-continued.474345/ an older thread

Federal government cracking down on batteries!

I remember taking apart a 3V coin cell when I was a kid. Almost caught my room on fire when it autoignited after exposure to oxygen. I think I've seen that some manufacturers put a bitter tasting coating on their batteries.

    SolarForce Model IDs

https://web.archive.org/web/20180308181509/http://solarforce.hk/ the web archive might be useful too. One of the big things for Solarforce as I recall was their adoption of the drop-in module. Many of their lights used a standard-sized drop-in, so you could change the power output, LED tint...

    Unpacking DL-50 Fatboys

I was gonna say, d2s base, 50W, pretty sure they ran cooler than any 50W aftermarket bulbs (at least, ones that actually were fed 50W). I've read that the salts actually improve with age, much like a fine wine. Here's the quote:

    Battery Corrosion Cleanup?

I had an old maglite 2xaa that I had to take a screwdriver and hammer to. Bashed the guts of the battery out, and the shell of the battery could then deform and be pushed out too. Maybe wear some gloves and do it outside. To louie's point as well, vinegar can end up having the same ions as...

Repairing A Wireless Towing Light Kit

Often, ICs have the + and ground pins in the same spot, almost like a standard. With a multimeter, you could make sure that the ICs are getting voltage on those pins. Look up what pins are usually Vdd and ground on common ICs if you can't read the writing on U3 and U4, and see if you can see a...

Repairing A Wireless Towing Light Kit

https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/58000-58999/58469-193175439819.pdf This was mainly only useful for a laugh. I liked the disassembly instructions. "1. Using a hammer, ..." sounds like a good start! Got any pics of the circuit board? I doubt there's anything visually wrong, nothing...

    3w in a 5mm?

Hah, randomly found some old photos, here's a pic of the LEDs I used. Yeah, you can kinda see the "heatsink" bit :) From an old schematic I drew, it looks like I drove these at 80mA, PWM'd for dimming, with thick copper wire to connect the "heatsink" leads, and still had plastic-meltingly hot.

    3w in a 5mm?

Ah yeah, I remember buying a baggie of ebay "5-chip LED" style 5mm LEDs. Nice color, very good brightness, starts dimming after a few seconds just from heat, get way hotter than a 5mm package should. Spent unexpected time dealing with power management after realizing that the "specs" on the...
