Any headlight that use proprietary battery pack but can also run on standard battery?

I have a Nitecore NU35. Internal battery, can use AAA batteries as a backup......and you can even plug it via USBc into a powerbank for even longer run times.

What is your overall experience with Nitecore products?

I have a nitecore light (P25 Smilidon) where the micro USB port failed. I have the P20ix which I love for brute lumen use (USBc port is still good to go); so I do like that one. I also have a headlamp (NU35) I got from them that I really like. Now the really ugly......I got the carbon fibre...

a what point do you stop collecting ?

I thought I was done after years and years of collecting. First in my collection was a Fenix LD20 gen1. I was done for a good 6 months until I spotted the LoopGear SK03. Ended up with 3 of them. Hopefully I'm actually done now.

What is your, "give away to a stranger" light?

I have a huge collection of freebie lights from Olight. Every sale, they usually include a free light, usually a aa model twisty. Since I have now a backpack full of them, I can give those away when needed without missing them. ***objective is to keep them away from my premium lights. 🙃

We need to talk about Olight

I like a few of them, but a lot of the times, the emitter is a deal breaker. Some of their designs are so exclusive and handy, I will sometimes overlook the emitter and just get it; ie. Baton3/4 with the charging case. For the most part, I need neutral emitters from them which is a rarity with...

    Anybody here into Matcha?

When I feel like I've had too much caffeine or sodas (sugar specifically), I like to replace them with matcha for a while to help bring those levels down. I live in Japan and I love the one I get at Kura Sushi, a local Sushi go Round joint I frequent. There are many to choose from, but this...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

We just got done surviving Typhoon FAXAI here in Yokosuka, Japan. We celebrated by having dinner out at a local sushi restaurant and left our car at the main gate parking during sun down. Coming back, we realized the lighting in the parking lot was out. Emisar D4S to the rescue. Double Click...

Which lights shine for you during a long power outage?

Flashlights are used in our household for getting around and looking for things in the dark and are almost never used for ambient lighting. I have several USB LED, warm tinted, with sensors on them that I can stick on any number of power banks we have. The sensors are nice because I can leave...

    EMISAR D4 Version 2!!

Totally love mine. It's got the gorked Muggle mode, but that mode will never see any use and this light will never get loaned out, so I'm good. Aux lighting is amazingly beautiful!

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Ordered the same one. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I already have the D4S but the V2 with the multiple aux colors is a nice touch. The smaller size will be nice too. How long have you waited so far? Mine shipped out on July 2nd, and I have the additional Military Post to Japan wait...

AAA keychain light that starts on low?

Maybe look into the D.Q.G. aaa lights? I got one that was available in Stainless Steel and Titanium. I'm very happy with my Ti, had it for 7 years now and going strong. Uses aaa and the more expensive models can also use 10440 lithiums for more lumens on the high mode. It starts on low and...

    EMISAR D4 Version 2!!

Reading through this thread, I lasted a good 1 hour before placing my order. I just fell off the "stopped buying flashlights" wagon hard just now. Thankfully, not too expensive.

    How's The Weather There ?

Japan's rainy season in full effect. At least 8 straight days of rain, possibly more. The forecast doesn't go beyond that for us here, so we'll see how long that lasts. Humidity was at 93% today in the high 70s.
