    Surefire M600a Upgrade Questions

Hi all, It's been a long, long, loooonnngggg, time since I've posted here. Like 2004 long. Anyway, coming back to the best board for information on an old SF M600a Scout Light I'm trying to put back into service. What are my options for upgrading this thing to modern output levels? I do...

    The CR2 II (Long, Pics!)

Because it takes a loooong time to make them. If you consider that a talented machinist easily makes $50+ an hour, and that these lights take multiple hours to design, machine, and assemble...well you get the idea. Thanks for your generosity, Larry! The CR2 II is getting plenty of pocket...

Sherline lathe + Frog CNC. Go or no-go?

I have a Taig with the Frog. The Frog is okay, but really not the best solution for CNC work. It's a little finicky and not very powerful. I passed on the 7x10 and bought the Taig, but after seeing my friends HF 7x10 I wish I had bought one. It's not very much larger than the Taig or...

Trick to removing Luxeon from Star?

There was a thread around here some time ago...AH HA! http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB14&Number=133937&PHPSESSID=&fpart=1#Post133937 This is pretty much the best method I've found, except you can skip the slitting of the heat sink and just bend it. I...

    Sold/Expired WTB: 4AA to D Adapter

The basic problems with the 4AA->D are twofold. The width and the height. Pretty obvious right . Most alkalines will physically fit the Mag body, but must all be touching each other. That means no inner walls on the adapter. Some rechargables will fit, although the manufacturers tend to...

    eMachineShop

The design software is a pain. It's all right, but really lacks for 3D design. I've ordered a couple times from them, and the parts are came out well. It's expensive for prototype or one off parts, though.

The Li14430 project: Li-ion cell safety testing.

I for one was disappointed with the lack of "venting with flame and mass dispersal". lol

    The Li14430: Lot's O'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed!

Re: The Li14430: Lot\'s O\'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed! I can't seem to find Doug's emails talking about efficiency. I couldn't understand them anway, though [ QUOTE ] NewBie said: Lets take a guess at starting efficiency. Li batts ~3.2V. 3.2 * 2 = 6.4V. I haven't worked with this cell...

    The Li14430: Lot's O'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed!

Re: The Li14430: Lot\'s O\'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed! Yep, the board has over-discharge protection. That was sort of a fun time during development. We needed to know what would happen if we pushed the cells too far. Nothing major happened, though. Burst cells, but no explosions.

    The Li14430: Lot's O'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed!

Re: The Li14430: Lot\'s O\'Lumens; Under 1 inch cubed! Doug's post is kinda funny because he's into the project so deep he has sort of lost track of what really _makes_ this light. In short, it's very bright, very small, 2 level light with long very constant output runtimes that's...

PR-T on Surefire L1. What would I need?

You can't use the regular E-can with the L1. It's too deep to allow the head the screw on. You need a reduced height E-can. Beyond that, yes, you would just substitute the converter for a battery contact.

Calling TubeTorch Modders and Aspiring Hotwires!

Re: Calling TubeTorch Modders and Aspiring Hotwire I'm not going to be modding any more reflectors. I already have about a dozen stacked up for other folks and they really are kind of a pain. If you really can't get them to work, though, PM me.

Calling TubeTorch Modders and Aspiring Hotwires!

Re: Calling TubeTorch Modders and Aspiring Hotwire Bob, Correct, no drop in reflector. The 1940 and the non-setscrew version will fit, but require modification to the base for the bulb pedestal. Also, the bezel ring will not screw down completely, so the front edge needs to be reduced. See...
