Gee things move fast. I'm away for 1 month. Last I heard green LED was retiring from flashlights and the K2 was the big thing.
Now it Looks like the world has turned upside down. Green is back and I've got to study up on the new Cree craze. Gonna take a lot of reading to catch up.
Sigh...it's...
It's a trip down memory lane for me too. I read this when I was just starting down the path to enlightenment (or should that be financial damnation).
I had been wanting an A2 but couldn't bring myself to spend that sort of money. When I saw the great price and cool black colour I was pushed...
I think that is an awesome gift you are giving. Especially nice that you thought to give them several 123A cells as well. You are certainly a very good and generous friend.
I hope they appreciate just how nice a gift they have been given. I'm not sure my non flashlight friends would realise...
Re: New Reviews at FlashlightReviews.com
Love your work Quickbeam. This re-rating looks like a lot of work. I'd like to agree with some others and urge you not to get burnt out. Thanks again for all the great reviews.
What a great idea this is.
For a long time Ive been very frustrated with various claims of a lights "brightness". Different methods and assumptions used or exaggerated claims make it really hard to know who to believe.
A reputable source of comparison would be highly valued.
Delvance I know the feeling. The first few times I lost some anodise after dropping my A2 on to concrete really hurt. I couldn't stop cursing my clumsiness for days after that.
I've come to accept that unless you are keeping something purely for collection purposes, we all have to accept that...
Very true. I think one of the marks of true flashaholics is when it you care about more than just the function of lights. The form, craftsmanship and so on take on importance, at least some of the time.
Hi David,
Great to hear how much you like your R500. I know how worried you were about how you would find the quality of the light. As you can see it is very good for the price.
Try not to worry about white wall beam-shot tests. Just wait till you get it somewhere outside where it's really...
I've been thinking about why we like some lights and why other perfectly good lights can under whelm. I don't really have a perfect answer but I find it fascinating. What is it that makes one light almost magically desirable and another lackluster and uninspiring?
It’s easy to see why some...
Sorry but getting a bit confused here. Just so I make sure I'm getting this straight. Are we sayingt that as far as rechargeables are concerned, running one 18650 will be brighter and last longer than two protected rechargeable 123As?
Don't worry Cheapo you didn't mess up. I'm really happy with my R500. I'm sure you would have read the main thread on the R500. You can see my comments there.
Only thing is to take care when you charge the battery. Remove the tail cap. Don't turn it on while charging. Don't know if it matters...
