    Using Plasti-dip / Plasti-cote

The spray is marginal. It does peel off relatively easily. It's hard to get it sprayed so that there isn't an edge to peel back. And make sure you don't get it on threads.

    First AA EDC

I've got tons of lights using all different kinds of batteries, but one of the best AA lights for value's sake is the G2-Q5 for $20. I bought three of them. A little big for a AA, but that's because it has a great reflector and throws unbelievably, and it has a forward clicky. And you can get it...

    Low Battery 1xCR123 Flashlight Needed

The Inova X-5 red is one CR123 and a great battery drainer.

    best red (not IR) flashlight

Just an observation....I have an X5 and A2 with red LED's. Spotting anything in the yard at night will be difficult for any red LED unless it's so bright that it will easily knock out your night vision. The successful use of any red LED outdoors is dramatically dependent on ambient light....if...

    The SF A2 - Part 2

I've had all colors. I've never noticed much of a change in color of the overall beam except when it's right against the wall, but yes, the LEDs are always on when the incan is on. Fewer reds and Y/G around because they are the most useful IMHO. The beam on the red and the Y/G is ugly, but the...

    Flashlights & Intimacy

Incans are definitely superior to LED's for this purpose.

Hello everyone, and a bit of advice, please...

Agree that the U2 would be more useful than the Kroma. I used a TL-3 for years; it's a great light, small for what it does with great throw, but issues with bulb loosening through O-ring problems would make me hesitant to use it for long term heavy use in rugged conditions. Although it's heavy...

    New DX Ultrafire 5 mode Q5 C2

You're going to EDC a two cell huge reflector thrower? Just where do you spend your nights?

    Aurora WF-800 Q5?

I went through the same process....ended up getting a WF-600 from DX, 18650's with WF-139 charger from AW. If you really want to stick to quick shipping, consider Lighthound and the WF-500 here (http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3078). You can order AW batteries and...

    Runtime: 1185 + 18650X3

Excellent...I'm sticking with what I've got then, because it sure is easy....and bright.

    Runtime: 1185 + 18650X3

I've looked around and I'm trying to figure out if I would improve runtime by going from my current 3X18650 Mag85 setup to 9AA NIMH's. I can't see any comparison anywhere on CPF....anybody have an idea?

    3D Mag Mod Questions

There is an alternative, and that's to use three 18650 AW batteries, put them inside an appropriate sized piece of pvc and just make a minor alteration to the spring so it provides more space for the batteries. Same bipin, same bulb. That's what I'm now running in my two Mag85's and it's worked...

    Finally Getting An Aviatror A2(Y/G)

What GreenLED said....any color LED on an A2 is not meant for any distance viewing. I have had every color LED on an A2 at one point or another, and the one that sits next to my bed is the Y/G. It is the perfect degree of dimness for the middle of the night, and still preserves colors much...

    AAA Solitaire

I currently carry a Q4 Fenix, but that's only because occasionally I need a AAA that's as bright as a 2D mag. I carried Arcs exclusively for over five years, including a great two-output Miller Modded AAA. Arc makes the most perfect keychain flashlights for the average user. You absolutely...
