modding questions on a convoy c8

as far as I know, it doesnt work with the c8, because it doesnt have a hole in the middle, where you could put the cables of the LED- star through. You would either need to drill a hole in the host, or get a different emitter. Also the reflector for the C8 only supports single emitter setups, so...

Halogen to led, where to begin?

    1. As far as I know, there are no 36V LEDs except for large COBs. For those COBs, you would need a massive amount of heatsinking, which is unlikely in an old halogen light. But you can use a DC-DC stepdown converter to get to a usable voltage. 2. If it is a really common light bulb, you might...

Building a custom short distance, super bright, wide angle, evenly distributed light

Firstly, define what you mean by "4 to 10 times brighter than cated sunlight", please. Secondly, running a flashlight on max is no problem continuosly, if you chose your max low enough. You can run a xhp70.2 up to 20A as far as I know. For that, you would need a lot more than this battery pack.

Is maglite modding still a thing?

What emitter did you use? How is the beam? I have a few 2D Maglites, that could use a led too.

    XML and single li ion

Maybe you have some bad contacts? I have a driver, which had a bad contact, which resulted in a lower current

    XML and single li ion

The Amperage depends on your driver. Normally, you shouldn't connect 2 LiIons to a driver, which is made for only one. This might kill the driver. Instead, send pictures of the driver. Some folks here might be able to tell you, what to change on the driver, for more amps.

    Bike light host recommendations

@datiLED I am living in germany, so this is not really an option but thanks for the offer. @jdvoraced I found a cheap 2s 3p pack for 18650 cells and plan to just mount the LED itself in a "host" (dont know whether this is the right term then) I ordered a cheap light from fasttech and a...

Maglite Mini-AA Incan to LED Mod Rehash

How is the output of these emitters?

    8mm MCPCB for XML

Are you talking about the original XML? As far as I know, they aren't really worth using anymore. If you would consider using something else, there are 8mm xpl V5's on fasttech, only on aluminium, but still better than nothing

    driver for XHP 70.2

This is a different kind of driver. It is strong enough for the xhp70 for sure, but you need a good host for heat sinking. It says, that it has different mode groups do change the output on the website, so you should be able to change to lower modes

    driver for XHP 70.2

I dont know, if it is still up to date, but you can use something like this https://www.fasttech.com/p/1127403 and do a zener mod. If you need more output, just attatch more amc7135 to it. But it is also dependent on your host.

    XHP50.2 driver questions

I never worked with the xhp50.2 but as far as I know, it is a 6V /12V chip and there are some variants with 3V. They will need a really high amperage though, if you go for full power. And you need quite a lot of cooling.

    Bike light host recommendations

Hi there, I am looking for a bike light host. It should fit at least 2 18650 cells and needs to have pretty good thermals, as I want to pack a xhp70 into it. It also mustnt blind the oncoming trafic. Thanks for your suggestions

Maglite Mini-AA Incan to LED Mod Rehash

I am not using a dummy cell I added a copper pipe to the tailcap and soldered the spring to it. I cleaned my connections so i guess something is a little wrong with my driver. I will keep using it that way though, but can't keep it on for a long time, because it gets hot after a few minutes.

Maglite Mini-AA Incan to LED Mod Rehash

The stuff I ordered arrived a few days ago and yesterday, I managed to put it all together. It works and it is really bright. It is definitely not as clean as I would like it too be, but I am happy. Somehow the driver doesn't seem to work properly though. I measured 2 A at the tailcap with a...
