    Charging 10180 Cells (Lummi Wee)

Tha Nano says it charges at 450mA - IMO this is wildly excessive for such a tiny cell. Wouldn't fancy trying it myself - especially as my only US socket is the shaver adapter in the bathroom. Sounds like the charger already in use is a far, far better bet.

    LCD CHARGERS

I have the Angeleyes and have just ordered anther one. Rate of charge can only be adjusted by putting in more or less cells - it will charge at 1065mA with two cells in it, 710mA with 3 and 1065mA with 2. With AAA's it is about 300mA with 4 and about 600 with 2 - it has cells in it just now so...

What operating system do you use?

Ain't it just. Stopped using an E420R Sun with a large RAID bolted to it because of its power consumption (And noise level - that thing is LOUD!). Ebayed the SunRays for the same reason as they were totally dependent upon the server to do anything useful. Still want to play with it, but not...

BessieBenny's Budget LED (DX/KD etc) Flashlights Review Roundup (Part V)

Re: Some interesting lights at DX QCG is on the mainland (Shenzen, OK, it isn't that far from Hong Kong.) - certainly it seems to take longer than DX or KD. I reckon on 5 weeks from order to delivery and they seem to ship pretty fast from ordering. To the UK, post from Shenzen is a lot slower...

What light do you use in the rain?

Like someone's already said I prefer my car headlights... If I have to be out of the car, I'd use whatever happened to be in the car - probably a single 123 device with a Prolight 3W LED or a Streamlight TwinTask single CR123. Or whatever headlamp is in the car. Would prefer street lighting...

3 hour power cut, my best torch ... headlamp

We don't get outages here. I've had less than 30 minutes of power out since January 4th 1990 when I moved in to my present house. The last power outage in the previous place was in 1975 lasting less than a minute. In my entire time here (1964-1978, 1982-1984, 1986-early 1989 late 1989-present)...

Does It Really Take A Month For DX Orders?

Varies a lot - usually less than a week from shipping (N.B. Shipping, not ordering) in the last 3 months. Around Christmas, forget it! I'd reckon at present less than a fortnight from ordering to the UK but last Christmas it was a disaster - 5-7 weeks from ordering and some that still hasn't...

what do you absolutely love about your light?

My 2D ROP running on D lithium cells. Cheap for the amount of light - gives an hour of silly amounts of light for not a lot of money. Reckon it cost me about $80 or thereabouts. Simple mod, even for someone whose theme song is "I love the sound of breaking glass" (I used to work in a lab)...

Learning to Live with the Fenix E01

I'd say both are the same in terms of floodiness - neither are spot beams. By eye, the beam angle on the E01 is a little wider than the E0, at a very rough eye estimate, roughly 120 degrees versus 100 for the E0. At 5cm from the front, the E01's beam is 10cm wide, the E0's is 7cm so the E01 is...

Learning to Live with the Fenix E01

By eye, the E01 is a lot brighter than the E0 on "white" ceiling shots at 8 feet. I smoke a lot, hence the "white". The beamshot doesn't seem to show this as clearly though. E0 on the left, E01 on the right. By my eyes, the E0 is dimmer but a lot whiter than the E01. Both have a yellowish...

Are Fenix E01s All Type III Anodized?

The olive ones certainly are - just used it to file some type II anodised aluminium. After about 8 months on my keys it shows no marks whatever. It will mark steel as well.. It also makes a very good nail file :)

    Has your EDC "stabilized"?

Mostly Usually Orb Raw (Cree) in homemade belt pouch. Can't carry anything with a blade on it at work so don't carry one. Normally outside work a Gerber multitool. All my keyrings have lights on them - Car keys Fenix E01 which replaced Fenix E0. House keys AWR Nano which replaced Ultrafire...

    Battery Gassing?

Most of the consumer ones I've come across exude acetic (ethanoic) acid as they cure - this is vinegar. Some acrylic paints do too. Fairly strong vinegar is certainly not good for electronics in general. You can get "potting resin" or "potting compound" which is designed for the job. A Google...
