Where did 1 watt fluorescent nightlights go?

Yes, there are a lot of options. A motion activated light might be a bad choice for a bedroom though. I wouldn't want it coming on every time I rolled over. I also have a theory (probably wrong) about "natural" light in the bedroom. I know some people are bothered by alarm clocks with red...

Where did 1 watt fluorescent nightlights go?

Yes the LED lights are sufficient for some purposes but occasionally a brighter one is desired. My sister's young grandchildren visited her recently for a week. They like their bedroom brighter than a typical nightlight delivers. She was planning on using an incandescent table lamp with a...

Where did 1 watt fluorescent nightlights go?

Thanks for the info guys. My light has a straight tube. The U tube wouldn't fit in the case. I will keep an eye out when in a chain store, but I don't expect to find a high quality light. Apparently the Megabrite Micro-fluorescent is no longer being made. The reviews of the GE are awful...

Where did 1 watt fluorescent nightlights go?

I bought one of these 5 years ago and I love it. It's been on all night for those 5 years and is still going strong. It puts out much more light than any LED nightlight I've seen and I like the color of the light better. It has a 1 watt fluorescent tube. The place where I bought it said it...

Need Help Selecting A Couple High Quality Snow Shovels

You can blame Canada if you want to (I do :)) but I'll bet you are on the leeward side of lake Ontario. That's the culprit. Drain the lake and your troubles are over. :) Well the snow troubles are over, but I suppose the lake moderates the air temperature somewhat. My ideal shovel would be...

    Charging just one Eneloop

I've been charging NiMH cells in parallel for many years. The old CCrane (Saitek) charger does it and does a very nice job, I might add. You do have to use matched cells. You don't want to connect two cells in parallel if their voltages are very different. The CCrane is a very smart charger...

    Prevent and Remove Spyware/Malware!

Ah yes, the secret magic key. Many gurus don't know it exists. I've never seen it mentioned on the start screen, or the mobo documentation. Intel mobos use the F10 key. I have Asus and Intel mobos and I forget what the magic keys are, so I put stickers on my keyboard.

    Simple backup for PCs ?

That's why I back up my important data on DVDs periodically. I store some of them off site. I also check the burn quality of the DVDs.

    Simple backup for PCs ?

I would put the drive in an external enclosure. Hard drives are easily damaged by mechinical shock, and having them in an enclosure would help. I am also careful when I set a hard drive on a hard surface, even when in an enclosure. Overheating is also a problem. I use enclosures that have a...

Kids toys - eneloops or go cheap?

But when run flat, some cells will have a negative voltage, will they not? Will NiCads survive that?

Am I the only one that thinks fluorescent bulbs stink?

I bought two Sylvania 13 watt 3000K bulbs. I killed the first one in 4 days. It was in a desk lamp. I had a radio one foot away. I heard a loud hum on weak stations. The lamp had been on for several hours. I switched off the lamp and the hum ceased. I turned it back on but the lamp did...

    Baby Breastfeeding Light

A headlamp is the way to go. I've been out of the market for years, but the old Princeton Tec Aurora is a big hit around here. Good for reading in bed also.

    Marking batteries

I mark them with a Sharpie and then cover it with a small piece of Scotch tape. It's been working well for years. If your cells are a tight fit in a flashlight, the tape might be a problem, but I don't have any tight fits.

    6 volt SLA charging question

This is the charger I use. I get the cord too for a total of $17.90. http://www.batterymart.com/p-6v-500ma-sealed-lead-acid-battery-charger-2.html

    X10 Home Automation/Security Users

I have the X-10 wireless Indoor Occupancy Sensor Model RM518. The two AAA alkalines have been in there for 14 months. It looks like they will last for two years. It amazes me that the batteries last so long. Apparently they detect motion somehow. I guess they emit a beam of something. MIne...
