    Mine have always had new numbers when replaced due to damage. Replacements for cards that have expired have had the same numbers though.

    I'll second the carsdirect.com recommendation. I've had great luck using them as a negotiation tool. They will also hook you up with local dealers for a no haggle transaction if you like the price they are quoting.

    I use a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and distilled water. Spray on and wipe with a soft cloth. Worked fine for years with no trouble.

    Then the auction should have been for "A Light" and not a specific serial number. This may have been a better indication of the tool aspect value of these if that was your true intent.
