    Concur. I returned the light last week and will check the tailcap current when I get the new one. What do you recommend for modding to get more oomph? About the advertised output...... 8500 lumens? No way but it should run with more than .85 amps at the tailcap.

    Looking for an inexpensive macro lens for my 50D

    I have the Tamron 90mm SP Di f2.8 macro and it performs flawlessly (around $350). I also have the Russian Industar 61 L/Z 50mm macro (~$50 plus shiping). It is M42 mount but you can pick up an adapter. It performs really well.

    Newbie with question

    I'm new as well, but have been most satisfied with the Fenix LD20 (180 lumens) and the 5.11 ATAC A2 (160 Lumens). I had initial issues with the ATAC A2, but 5.11 sent me a brand new one and it is flawless.

    Thanks you all for the input/advice and suggestions. I received the TK41 yesterday. No tint issues and the emitter is dead center. I am thoroughly impressed with the throw and all the switches, so far, seem to function as designed. Once again, thanks everyone for your input!!

    If you can go ~$50 then I would go with the Fenix LD20 R5. I have one and it sounds like what you may want. link removed EDIT: Fenix LD20 is a longer than the 100mm that you want. 6 inches compared to about 4 inches.
