Beamshots Osram Ministar 20W?
Looking for beamshots of this little critter, I've seen some of 35/50W but those are 30 degrees and 20W is only 20 degrees. :candle:- Flummo

BAN HID headlights, FINE users, JAIL converters!

LED replacement for my motorcycle headlight
I have had similar plans for a few bikes, but I have not come up with a good way to mimic the E-codes low beam beampattern. The ordinary "round spot" of light from LEDs just isn't an acceptable low beam for me. As a compromise I am keeping the standard headlight on one bike (12V 45/40W Ba20d)...- Flummo

Cree XP-E available!
For us without any idea about those leds, in what areas are those better than, say, a XR-E Q5 ? My memory may be bad, but 100-107lm @ 350mA sounds lower.- Flummo

Need Help : Wnat to MOD Car HID for bike.
Your assumptions are not correct. :poke: The ballast is often rated at 3.2A @ 13.2V, or 42W at that voltage. 4 2000mAh batteries connected in series will have 2000mAh total too, but 4 times the voltage. (In paralell you gett 8000mAh but still 3.6V or what each cell has.)- Flummo

No pics yet, the measurements were taken with the LED handheld without heatsink, so there is only a limited time I can keep it running - and there isn't much point in taking pics of loose parts on the bench. Moving the LED forward is unfortuneately impossible, the star is bigger than the hole...- Flummo

Cooling emitters
No, no real hurry, actually I was told that Cree stars and optics were coming in soon so I decided to wait for that instead of messing with emitters. More light than the available options, simpler cooling, simply better... So for now the problem is solved, and I know how to handle emitters...- Flummo

What's the difference with VDC vs VAC switches?
No, there is no formula, or at least none for us mortals. Another problem with DC is that the small arc you get every time you switch it of moves a little metal from one contact point to the other. lm/w for ordinary cheap 5mm leds?
Does anyone know how good the cheap chinese 5mm leds are when it comes to lm/w? This kind of leds are usually rated in cd/mcd only, and for an amateur that is hard to compare to something rated in lumen.- Flummo
