    Best upgrade path for troffers?

So you're saying keep the troffers, upgrade the tubes? What about something like this? http://lighting.cree.com/products/indoor/troffers/essentia-by-cree-flat-panel Thanks, Gordon

    Best upgrade path for troffers?

Our duplicate bridge club needs to upgrade lighting in a hanging ceiling. Our building is about 3000sf populated with 40-year old 2' x 4' troffers that each hold 4 T8s. They're getting pretty unreliable and we've raised enough money to do something about them. What's our best upgrade path...

LED Fixture to Replace 400w MH

How about lights mounted on the house and lower on the windmill? If your yard is flat and smooth, light coming more from the side will make snakes easier to see ... Gordon

    General purpose 1AA

I'm looking for an EDC/backpacking light which will eventually migrate to a glove box or a bug out bag as new and better lights come along, so low parasitic drain or a tailcap lockout would be nice ...Thanks in advance. Gordon 1) How would you prefer to purchase the light? ____This will be...

Ideal color temperature for indoor lighting

There's plenty of other reflected light besides that from the sky in shadows outside. Depending on what's nearby, a shadow can be either cool or warm. Or both, in different areas. Indoors, the same thing happens, but in general, the color temperature of shadows depends on the color temperature...

Ideal color temperature for indoor lighting

Shadows aren't completely dark. Most are fairly bright but appear dark in relation to fully lit areas. If you're good at seeing color, like a painter or a photographer, you'll notice when shadows look cold. I'd be willing to call a cold shadow "harsh". Gordon

Adding LED to solar garden lights

It won't. Each LED needs it's own resistor. Gordon

Help! My office building just switched to hideous LED (not fluorescent) lighting

I'll chime in with a suggestion. Call it 4b. Tell the landlord that if he fixes the lighting, you won't all bring in electric bathroom heaters and run them 24/7 ...

Ideal color temperature for indoor lighting

Couldn't have said it better. Those of us who have trouble sleeping hate lighting with blue content. If it's going to be on only in the evening, 2700, for sure. Gordon

Not sure where to post this... Looking for overhead lighting for my garage.

I've got three 100W incans on a wall switch, two over the area in front of the cars, one between the cars say around the windshield area, a 4' fluorescent fixture over my workbench that I plug in, and a LED bulb in the opener for light when we enter and exit the cars at night. Works well enough...

Philips announces a new but strange looking bulb

It makes sense that the warranty period is much shorter than the lifetime. At the average lifetime, half of the bulbs will have failed. Replacing them all under warranty would be expensive. Gordon

Philips announces a new but strange looking bulb

That isolated controller board is going to help keep the caps cool. Clever. Here's hoping for higher power designs with heat sinks in the donut hole ... Gordon
