    Leaky batteries is an issue but I think the most common mode of failure in LED lights is heat which causes the driver to fail and soldering to come loose.

    To elaborate further, no of lumens goes up to a peak then taper off gradually as we gained more experience here on CPF as our focus shifted from raw power (lumen output) to endurance (runtime).

    double o-rings?

    Surefire C2/3, Z2/3, 6/9P, M2, M3, M4 all have double o-ring grooves at the tail not a larger gap that can accommodate two o-rings, stock lights came with one o-ring but many CPFers put in another o-ring in the second groove.
