Congrats on your new bino, Chorlton. Hope you will enjoy it.
That little Pentax looks nice and my larger bino that also is a Pentax is really good.
My 8x25 Terra is great and almost always in the pocket when I'm out for a walk.
The large 8x42 is to big to for that kind of use and more for...
Some updates to this thread.
A couple of months ago I did get a new pair of binoculars after some new research.
It's a Zeiss Terra ED 8x25. I find it excellent!
I have also used a Nikon acculon A30 8x25 and the Zeiss is much better - sharper, brighter, less glare and better ergonomics.

I just remembered that I ordered from them last october.
Worked pretty well but was some delay until they actually shipped the lights.
Ordered a couple of nitecore lights from them, we'll see how that works out, my first nitecore.
Streamlight Microstream is a great light and the one that I EDC most.
It does have one "problem" that doesn't fit with the OP,
it is good regulated and shines with what seems to be full power till it suddenly won't start again when battery is dead.
Sounds in OP as it would be better with a light...
Always starts in low, then medium and high. No mode memory.
Just compared it to the old model.
The old E05 is a little brighter than medium on the new model.
This looks cool.
Don't see the switch but if that is placed in a good way and it has a good UI it can be a great light.
The output is just fine for me. I have several lights that max at about 150-300 lumens and that's more than enough for most things.
45 lumens medium can be a good "general use"...
Worth mentioning may be Maglite ML300L.
Runs on 3 D-cells (also availible as 2 D with a little less output).
Can also work with AA to D adapters.
625 lumens, 41200 cd, 406 meter.
