Is the 796 bulb a safe application for a reverse light?

I have had good luck with the 796 in place of 1176 in my 1986 F250 and 1992 S10 Blazer. Just added them to my 1982 GMC C2500. Thinking about them in the headlights of my John Deere D130 mower.🙄 Over the years, I’ve had a few of those 55 watt halogen replacements for 1176, and I’d definitely...

Field / Work lighting for tractor

And of course: many sellers lie about color temps, because they believe higher numbers bring higher sales. I replaced the PAR36 headlights on my 65 year old tractor, then added some PAR36 floods to the bucket arms. The PAR46 rear floods will swap to LED when they burn out. Read the Amazon...

dont ever move to a small town!!!!!

If it is a Town, it is still too big. I am near the unincorporated community of maybe 300 or so that has a ZIP code and my P.O. Box for the last 50+ years. It is too populated, and like everywhere else in America today, it has too many druggie/tweaker thieves. The globalists want us all in...

what was the first led flashlight you owned?

While that Syclone was my first purchase with an LED, I think the little Coast LED Lenser “V” I bought at a gun show was my first pure LED light. It uses three AAAA cells, hasn’t ridden in my pocket for years but still hangs on a hook above my bed/night stand.

what was the first led flashlight you owned?

Before Y2K we were enlarging the reflector hole a bit on 2 AA mini mags and poking in red LEDs bought at Radio Shack, to make red “night lights.” My first commercial flashlight with LED was a Streamlight Syclone. The primary bulb was krypton incandescent, but the secondary “low” bulb was a...

Battery Suckers Suck - Thrunite Catapult Mini

You’re right about that. I believe Mr. Scott said “the more complicated you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop it up.” 😉 Your tale got me thinking: Apparently, not every light of a particular model is necessarily a battery sucker (if all HDS did it, there’d be an outcry). It may...

Battery Suckers Suck - Thrunite Catapult Mini

Well, as time went by.,, my Nitecore EA4W died and I wanted to fill its custom leather holster (Thor’s Hammer Leather), so I got the EA41 Pioneer, then it died. I recently updated with a Thrunite TC20 V2 to fit the same holster. But that’s a “light up the back 40” light. I wanted a thrower...

Adaptive headlights approved for the US!

I was recently reading a Koito site. “Smart” adaptive lighting that puts more light where needed, essentially everywhere but on the oncoming vehicle(s) sounds wonderful. It seems almost magical that a lighting system could keep a rapidly approaching vehicle free of glare while lighting all...

    18650 room lamp?

Timing: i’ve been reading this thread, and this morning’s ad from Brightguy is pushing their LEDLenser ML6 rechargeable lantern “warm light edition,” which uses 18650, and as a bonus they are throwing in their Flex 3 power bank which comes with a 3400mah 18650 and a USB cord. Looks like a...

    Comparing 200mm rectangularHellas

Well, it’s a case of “what I have.” And this was just my first impression on a garage wall. I’m sure I’ll learn more when I use them. Ideally, I’d go with JW Speaker but about $654 for the pair makes them worth nearly as much as that old S-10. Still, they are on the wish list.🙄 I hear good...

    Comparing 200mm rectangularHellas

I had the opportunity to compare (quick shine on a wall) a recently acquired Hella 72207 and a 72206 that’s been on my shelf since maybe the 90’s. Not much difference on low. The newer 72207 seems to concentrate more in the high hotspot and throw it a bit more left of center. If I use these...

What is your stuff hit the fan light?

I suppose I should add some solar chargers. But I do believe in diversification. I collect kerosene lamps, have candles, a few propane and white gas lanterns. If there’s anything close to a “universal” battery these days, it’s probably AA. So it would be sensible to lay in a few AA lights and...

darkest place you have ever been?

I retired not long ago from 45 years as a Hydroelectric Operator. When you are two or three floors underground and the lights go out, and you are the guy who has to get it back up and running..... or you are inside the passages of a dam and the lights go out.... well, I still carry...

    A PSA About LED Retrofits

Funny, I miss my bare bones basic 1969 Chevy half ton, inline six & three on the tree. I got a lot done with that rig.
