High flux LED with more than one color on the die

The only "high flux" RGB LED (array) I've ever seen is the RGB one from Lamina Ceramics, and it definitely won't fit into any ARC-4 form factor. It's about the size of a postage stamp, details here: http://www.laminaceramics.com/datasheets/bl-2000%20rgb.pdf /ed B in NH

    Sky Ear

This isn't exactly about flashlights, but it is about LEDs and helium balloons, and what the folks over in the UK do with them. Pretty cool... http://haque.co.uk/skyear/information.html UFO sightings, anyhbody? /ed B in NH

    LED lights used at DNC?

We were speculating here ar work if the huge TV screen there was a plasma or LED screen, as it was bright even in well-let conditions. Maybe this will re-appear in the RNC hoedown in August. /ed B in NH

If you were moving to Africa…

For a good "emergency" AM/FM/SW radio, check out what C.Crane has to offer, they have radios that require no batteries, they have solar cells, crank up generator and built in NiMH, so no alkalines or AC power is required. One version of the radio also has a built in LED light. They also have...

Cell Phone Antenna Booster - Good or Bogus?

They are total crap, as are those "plug into the wall" TV antennas, those plastic antenna tip balls, etc. Might as well take a $10 bill, fold it into a paper airplane and toss it out the window. At least there is a little fun there The answer? /ed B in NH

    Lamina ceramics light chips

The red and amber BL2000s I have, the four corner solder pads are marked +. R, G, and B, but they connect as shown in the spec sheets, these could be early versions or prototypes. How are the RGB ones set up, are the three little chips inside each of the 7 dies red, green and blue, or do they...

    Lamina ceramics light chips

Right now I have a red BL2000 running on an adjustable bench power supply, about 6.7V @ 2.8 Amps. Arctic Silver'ed to an old 486 heatsink. Holy cow, is it ever bright!!!! I suppose 6 NiMH or 5 D Alkies and a .2 ohm 5W resistor would work, I'm not sure if one of the round heatsinks to adapt a...

Commercially produced 20 Watt LED Bulb!

Are there any special soldering considerations with these? Or is "regular" electronic solder and a low to medium wattage small tip soldering iron suitable? Just don't want to kill mine before lighting it up.... OOPS! THis should have been under the "Lamina" topic... I was able to solder it...

    Lamina ceramics light chips

I just obtained one red and one amber BL-2000 7-cavity units, these are supposedly rated at 348 Lumens. 6.69VDC @ 2.8A. Sounds like a good match for 6 NiMH Ds and a .25 ohm resistor (and a huge heatsink). I figured I'd try to blow these up (hopefully not)...

    Luxeon LED Motorcycle Lights?

Last Saturday, I saw a Harley pass by, and it had two very bright small "running" lights with that telltale "pee-green" color. My SWAG is that these are using the 5W Luxeon LEDs, I don't know if these were home-made or commercially available devices. They did not have that bluish color of the...

    EnLux 22W LED Floodlight

If it uses a capacitor as the reactive device to drop the voltage, then it can't be used on most light dimmers, the high frequency "spikes" would not get the same voltage drop as 60 Hz AC, and this would burn something out pretty quick (I know from experience). I was wondering if it uses some...

Sold/Expired Ultra High Power Near InfraRed Flashlight

I've experimented with an array of 660 nM red and 880 nM IR LEDs, just to see if this would actually work. THis was about 3 years ago, I had a serious knee injury, and wanted to see if there really was anything to this. It had some mild effect, but nothing spectacular. Yes, it would generate...

    Inretech RED mc 660 20 T5 led

I've run single 1W red and red/orange Luxeon Star LEDs direct drive from 2 D cells and it is a fearsome sight.... Even 2AAs in a modified Brinkmann"long life" is almost deadly... Do not look into Trilightd with remaining eye. /ed B in NH
