    DIY Optics

Sputtering alumnium needs a good vacuum but some amateurs have achieved it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne4-10kiSaE

    DIY Optics

This might be of interest to those thinking of designing and fabricating their own refractors/reflectors. The ability to 3D print the optics is beginning to come within the reach of the dedicated amateur: http://formlabs.com/en/company/blog/2014/09/24/lenses-3D-printed-formlabs/

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

Haven't had time to call Specialized today, but found some info on their support site regarding an external battery pack:

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

Derek, I don't feel so bad now. I noticed the groove on both models in the shop, but there was no O-ring there, nor did they have the extra O-ring mentioned in the bulletin. I am going to call the shop tomorrow to see what they say - maybe they didn't put them together properly, and will report...

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

Oh man, down the beach in California! Was 42F and wind driven drizzle all day here in England. I noticed the Flux Elite, also in the shop had a wobbly mount. Does your mount have a rubber 'O' ring on the mounting rod? If so, maybe the ones I saw in the shop hadn't been set up properly. Your...

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

I played with a Flux Expert in the flesh today at my local Specialized store, which was a 3 hour round trip. Left empty handed. From what I could make out under the shop lighting, the optics looked good but was still daylight and there was no way to get a true impression of what the light is...

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

Battery life could be a deal breaker for me. If only they had designed a smaller head with an external battery pack. That said, 400 lumens could be sufficient if the optics are as good as the Philips Saferide 80. Would be interesting to know whether this can be recharged from an external USB...

REVIEW: Specialized Flux Expert Bicycle Headlight - Photo Intensive

Nice review. 2 questions: 1. In a review I watched on youtube, the reviewer noted that the mount rattled and wobbled slightly - did you experience this? 2. The USB connector - this looks like a standard microUSB connector and as such will have a ground, 5V supply and 2 data lines. Would be...

    C&B Seen Lights

I have bought 2 sets of the 1200 lumen version of the front light for friends in the past. Nicer looking and better quality machining than the 1000 lumen version. Not sure whether the electronics or battery cells are any better than other cheap lights of this type - pot luck in my opinion...

    Specialized Flux Expert/Elite

The play in the mount looks bad. I found a review by a guy in the UK below. He also mentions the rattle when riding. I was really hoping that this would be a great road light but looks too flawed for the money they are asking. I have a modded Philips Saferide 60 dynamo light with XP-L leds...
