Trying to find a practical way to evaluate a 18650 Li-ion battery...

Far from being expert, i wonder if this can be a quick and dirty way to evaluate (used) 18650 batteries: 1. Connect a small LED voltometer in parallel on ONE cell, check the number (V1). 2. Give to the cell a certain (charging) voltage (let us say 500mA momentarily, with a small typical USB...

Charging a flashlight while using it?

Well, phew, it is a really cheap thing anyway, so my demands are not high. I just tinkered with it heavily, changing the LED, omitting the control board, those kind of things that make a tinkerer crazy, you know. It accepts 4.2V power to charge through a jack, and charges well with a *regulated*...

Charging a flashlight while using it?

Thanks for the good news, Steve. Overcharging is no problem because the battery has it already by itself, overdischarging is relatively manageable (keeping an eye on the light, and learning by experience), hence the good news. Or if you want to play hard, charge a second battery.:sssh:

Charging a flashlight while using it?

On my bike, i use a one 4.2 lithium battery LED flashlight. Very useful, because -i can charge it on the hub-dynamo, -i can have it ON continously when in the city, so been visible even when the bike stops, -i can use it off the bike as an ordinary light source. The question: Is it any bad (for...

Connecting two bicycle dynamos together for extra power?

I was experimenting in the meanwhile, just to discover my wrong approach: I was trying to charge AAs in a normal charger which accepts DC input. Silly. You can just drive the rectified DC directly in them, in series, taking into account the ~500mA the hub gives and their nominated charging...

Connecting two bicycle dynamos together for extra power?

I am not an expert on electricity, just have some experience with electronics, and would appreciate some help on this. Description of a custom electrical system on my bicycle: -Hub dynamo Shimano 3N70. -After that, i drive the current in a small 'rectifying box'. This unit has one typical...
