If only it were an infinitely variable twist-head light? Like that term you made up though--simple yet purposeful.

Yes. And low appears to be a true low (6-8 lumens?) as opposed to a 20-30 lumen low. Ramping is very easy with this light and also silent with just a slight press of the recessed reverse clicky to change modes. edit: yes it is a low-medium-high. Whether or not that is to preserve night vision...

Fenix E12 run time graphs compared with other popular lights

In any case I am satisfied with the functionality of this 1 x AA torch. I would highly recommend it to anyone who asked. Thanks for the graphs! I used it today during work and tonight when I took my dog out. Still seems to be putting out full lumens. Luckily I have a 20 pack of AA's in my truck...

Modifying this old Dorcy Luminator I found in my drawer

I came across this light that I presume was given to my wife by her father when she went away to college back in 2000. I think he had owned it for quite a while. It has quite a lot of scuffing on it, and I replaced the D batteries to no avail, so it probably needs a new bulb. Anybody know of a...

You bet! I wish I had some fancy camera equipment but the good ol' 4S will have to suffice for the time being.

Thanks for clarifying Scooby. I used the fingernail test. This is definitely no maglight lens--It's thick and seems pretty solid, even if it is made of plastic.

One other thing, I heard it mentioned in a different thread that the lens appears to be plastic, but from my observations it appears to be glass. I will not be using anything sharp to test this observation though :)

Under normal observation on a white piece of paper in all 3 modes there is no visible wire imprint.

I'm not a huge fan of a reverse clicky light. But to be honest I'm not using this light for anything tactical and it's very easy to switch between modes. There is no memory, strobe or SOS that I'm aware of, which I'm also totally fine with. It's a simple light, well designed and easy to stash in...

Taken with my Iphone 4S. It's still daylight so I took some garage photos and a couple at the ceiling. Keep in mind the blinds are open and it's fairly bright inside my living room right now! 10 feet on low 10 feet on medium 10 feet on high 20 feet on low 20 feet on medium 20...
