For the record, and barring my removal from the forum by Kelly for commenting on an Xtar product (aka Greta), I'm super happy with my SV2 charger! It works a treat and seems to charge all my lithium and NiMH cells just fine.

I'm out. I've said my peace, and I've made my points on this charger, and the manufacturers claim, however ridicules it may be.
I'm not anti Xtar, I'm just anti Marketing BS. If YOU wish to purchase this charger and claim it's the greatest thing ever.... go ahead. Those of use who can read a...
You are correct, draining is not the real danger, it's attempting to recharge it that is! It's not that it will melt down with flame if you recharge it... it's that you do not KNOW what it's going to do, it's what it MIGHT DO.....
And worse yet... it might not get around to venting with flame...
I think we should stop using the term DMM in regards to this charger... It may measure low voltages (but there is no range given that I can see) and only DC voltages at that. It can measure internal resistance of a power cell, and it may possibly use a 4 wire method, but dull probes will NOT...
I'm pretty impressed with my SV2 as well.... I'm thinking of ordering another one. If one fails, I can still charge 2 cells at a time in the other one. 2 x SV2 chargers are getting close to the Dragon in cost... so I wouldn't be saving money, but I sure like redundancy!

Fenix uses bog standard 18650 cells (no custom battery pack).
Fenix has more than sufficient output for a lantern
Fenix has a better spread of light levels/more usable options.
Fenix is a well known maker who has earned their reputation.
I'd get the Fenix. As to who has the best price.... your...
No difference other than model number, likely created for a large volume seller so they can claim it's not the same item everyone else is selling to avoid price matching. This is done in Canada all the time. Ads like "Only available from XXXXX" and while identical to another chains product line...
Exactly.
And just to clarify my above statement.... I don't recharge any cells during my camping trips, but I DO recharge my smart phone.... DOH! :sigh:
Besides the reduced capacity over a typical LSD AA NiMH cell.... there is no mention of how large a draw the electronics can handle or should I say permit. Right now, until someone like HKJ puts them on the bench and measures it, there are not even specs from the manufacturer... only a claimed...
I had a quick look at their Fbook page and the info they are providing. So what is it you ask? It appears to be a usb rechargeable liIon cell that has a buck converter built in, to drop the actual output voltage to 1.5V, thus giving it the claimed 1600mAh of capacity. The cell IS NOT a 14500...
I purchased a brand new Extech multimeter for use when my other multimeters were not available, as in when I was not in my shop. I have two Fluke 87Vs and one no longer made unit from a name that escapes me, but they were in the Fluke quality range when they were made. All three of these...
Lead Acid cells don't like to be drained.... they like to stay at full or near full charge. NiMH will withstand drain/charge cycles much much better.
Whatever the mAh of capacity of a D cell will be the mAh of the pack when the cells are in series. If parallel wired, the capacity is...
Yes, it is safe to charge *any* NiMH cell in a D4, but you are going to have to charge for a long time as you only have 750mAh max charge rate... so 10 hours of charging and you have only charged it roughly half ways to full as there are some charging losses. Figure 24hrs to fully charge a D...
It's available for pre-order on GearBest. The most likely hold up is production to meet the expected sales and having them in dealers hands before the selling starts. While HKJ's review is important to us enthusiasts, I'm afraid we constitute but a small puddle in the expected ocean of sales. I...
You are welcome. Xtar SV2 will also charge 2 x 2A, but does not have bells and whistles, nor will it do 4.35V, if that matters. I like my SV2 a lot.
