Why did you sell your Surefire?

Bought a handful, only sold one. It was a black G2 I picked up new for a song on the MP. IIRC, it didn't make reliable contact with my multi-mode DX P60 dropin, and rather than get a quality module, I decided to sell the Surefire... :ohgeez: That coming winter I regretted my decision.

Last light that you bought - cool, neutral or warm?

Cool, only because I couldn't find one with a neutral emitter, and had intended to mod it with an XP-G neutral. I am about to pay for a neutral Jet-III ST and will either put up my Jet-III Pro IBS up for sale or send it off to a more experienced modder.

What is happening with Novatac ?

Thanks for the heads up, just snagged a (used, like-new) Storm for $14 with free 2-day shipping from Amazon. I too wonder what is going on. These prices are far too low for clearancing out end-of-life products, but who knows now that Novatac has changed ownership. Edit: NVM, just received an...

    Good throwers for about $80?

What about the RQ from KD? Sure it's a clone, but it's based on one of the best throwing lights from only a few years ago. The emitter it comes with is either a Q5 or R2; swap it out for an XM-L and you'll be set. At only $25, you could buy three lights and still come in under budget!

    SSC P7 turns blue

Nope, not normal. It turns blue because it's overheating. You shouldn't continue to use it until you have the thermal situation corrected. Is there thermal glue or grease under the star? Is it properly held down tight against the heatsink?

    Sold/Expired WTB: Neutral-white Cree XR-E on 16mm round MCPCB

I like the color of the 5A bin, and Q4 would be great! As I don't know how to reflow solder on my own, it would be preferred if I could it shipped ready-to-use. I plan on replacing the emitter in my RQ (Raidfire Spear clone) with something more outdoor-friendly while trying not to lose too...

    Sold/Expired WTB: Neutral-white Cree XR-E on 16mm round MCPCB

Like the title says, looking to purchase a neutral white XR-E on a 16mm round board. Hoping for at least a Q4 bin (do they even come any higher?). I need an XR-E as I want to use Arctic Silver for thermal transfer, and use the reflector the center the emitter and hold it down. Let me know...

Who makes a single AAA rear clicky?

I second that LF2 XT recommendation.

What is your favorite budget light?

Easily my modified Romisen RC-G2's. Although a few years back it was my three Brinkmann Maxfire's that I found on clearance. For me, it's all about the forward clickies.

    Standard Q5 vs WW?

Same driver, so a Q5 would only give you more lumens compared to a Q3. Runtime would be unchanged given equal vF's.

    Standard Q5 vs WW?

A 5C tint would actually be neutral, but is commonly referred to as warm white. That said, I recommend the WW version. I prefer a superior tint to only a few additional lumens. Neutral tints look excellent outdoors: grass is much greener and tree trunks look brown instead of grey.

    Modifying a Solarforce L2-S1 ==> Surefire Z59

Re: Modifying a Soloarforce L2-S1 ==> Surefire Z59 Could you take a picture of the innards of the switch? If it's built like the Jetbeam Jet-III switch this could be soldered onto the PCB replacing the reverse clickie.
