    Fenix HM50R (CR123\16340 headlamp)

Re: Fenix HM30R (CR123\16340 headlamp) It's not neutral white -- I just got mine, and it's cool white with a pretty bad blue tinge. The smooth reflector was not a good choice on Fenix's part either.

NEW HM50R Rechargeable Headlamp PLUS Free Coins This Weekend

So, mine just arrived, and initial impressions are not great. The emitter is cool white, with a noticeable blue tint and lots of beam artifacts. Compared to the beautiful beam on my HL50, which remains my favorite headlamp, it's just terrible. As far as the rest goes, it all seems quite good...

    Defective LED chips?

Hi, Jhearcht, and welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, but yeah, that sounds pretty typical of those cheap zoomables. Zoom lights aren't particularly well regarded around here. They often (but not always) involve a lot of trade-offs in terms of ruggedness, beam...

IT'S GIVEAWAY TIME! February Contest UPDATE

Re: IT'S GIVEAWAY TIME! February Contest I'm not sure how appropriate it is to spam the rest of the forum. And besides, isn't it in our interests to have as few people as possible enter the giveaway, instead of making it widely known? That said, since I want to enter, here's a link.

I'm afraid I can't help with that one.

    PFlexpro lights and drop ins

Nope, OTF. :twothumbs http://www.pflexpro.com/Flashlight-Real-lumen-output-s/1839.htm I don't have any way of verifying the measurements myself, but I have no reason to doubt them. These are the brightest floody single-cell lights in my collection, hands down. Again, it's a subjective...

    PFlexpro lights and drop ins

Looks like it will start at the beginning after ~0.5 seconds of off time, the same as the normal off-time memory. Had to dig out the manual because I don't use it. So the amount of time the light is on in a given mode doesn't matter, it's the amount of off-time that controls whether it advances...

    PFlexpro lights and drop ins

Website says: Lens: Stock -plain glass lens from Solarforce. The AR lens will increase out by about 6%. The Micro Textured lens will also increase output by about 6% and remove artifacts from the beam...it decreases throw by only 2%. The Micro Textured lens works well with any reflector, but...

Not on this forward clicky - there's no half-press to advance modes when the light is on. You have to fully click off, then back on to advance. I can't really comment on the throw issue. I bought these lights to have smooth, floody beams. I've never noticed a great deal of difference in their...

    PFlexpro lights and drop ins

If you don't need it for an active war zone, then I'd go with PFlexPRo over Malkoff, if you value flexibility and options. The mode switching takes a little adjustment if you're used to lights with secondary mode switches. With forward clicky, from off, you do half-presses until you get what...

    PFlexpro lights and drop ins

They're fantastic. I've bought five over the last year, and haven't touched any other brands since. Mine see daily use and I haven't had any problems. I've given two to friends, and they've performed perfectly as well. I certainly trust them as much as my Zebralights, and they're much more...

Need a light for older person! not sure if this has been asked before...

Fenix E12 is a good suggestion. I got my mom a Thrunite T10, which is another single-AA light. The advantage there is it has a 0.2-lumen firefly mode, so she can just leave it on as a nightlight if she's in, say, a hotel room.
