Which Headlamps Have a Remote Battery Pack

I got the Fenix HP30R and tried it out before I sent it to my son. It is a monster. I love the UI - separate, independent switches for flood and spot. I compared it to my Spark 500cw and the Fenix is so much brighter. Of course the Fenix uses two 18650s, not just one like the Spark. Tint...

Which Headlamps Have a Remote Battery Pack

Thanks for the help xcandrew and colina. Glad to hear the PWM is not a problem, and yes, I'll be sure to order the 30R not the 30.

Which Headlamps Have a Remote Battery Pack

Thanks for the responses. Most of those lights look really great but are a bit pricey. The Luciferlights look very high end. I had not heard of them. I think I'll give the HP30R a try. I've had good luck with Fenix in the past. From some of the lumen graphs in the reviews, it looks like...

Which Headlamps Have a Remote Battery Pack

Hi, I've been out of the lights/headlamp loop for a while and need a recommendation. My son needs a headlamp with a battery pack that can go inside his jacket to keep it warm. Preferably AAs, but 18650s would be OK. He's in the Brooks Range in Alaska running dog sleds and will get...

looking for a backpack light - thank you for your time!

If you are really going to go backpacking with this light, the idea of carrying a large, heavy light doesn't make much sense. The longer you are out in the woods the more important it is to be carrying something lightweight. If I was going to carry ONLY ONE light, it would be a single AA...

    Best 3-way LED?

You followed the tried and true CPF advice "buy them both". It worked. Glad you are happy w the Cree.

    Chage to rechargeable

Most lights that take 2 x cr123 [6 volts] run well [many with similar brightness] on one 18650. As fivemega mentioned, test it the easy way and try it with a 17670 before boring it out. Welcome to CPF. Thrifty

    ReviewTheLight: Nitecore HC50

Thanks for this very complete review. This looks like a great product from Nitecore - I'm glad they are finally producing a headlamp. Their D10 still finds its way into my EDC rotation. Since my son lost my Zebra H51w in Alaska, I'm looking for a small headlamp to replace it. Although a bit...

No love for the Surefire T1A Titan?

It definitely gets love from me. It has the best interface and a beautiful beam, in a small [but not too small] size. I've never owned one, but used one for a while at a CPF get-toghther. Yes, it is expensive, and the max is not super impressive, although as was pointed out - it was...

Tell me I don't need another flashlight!

Welcome to CPF and the flashaholic's world. You don't need another flashlight.* There I did what you asked. ________________________ * But you want one.

My most used, most reliable and best performing light ever!!

Very nice review Jimmy, long term reviews are very valuable. I also second your assesment of CPF. This light sounds a lot like my Electrolumens MCE EDC, only w multi-levels, which I would appreciate on that light.

    New Nitecore EA8 - "Caveman" - really?

I'm with you Dubois, there are plenty of names, find one that's not already in use. The other thing that's not right with this name is that, other than diving, caving is probably the most abusive activity you can use a light for. I doubt this light would hold up too long if used for caving...

Both of my Zebralights went Bad. Ugh.

My SC51w is intermitently exhibiting similar behavior. It worked fine for so long, and was my favorite EDC. Now it will sometime only come on very low and/or drain an Eneloop very quickly. Sometimes when it comes on only very low, the batttery will still have a full charge left and work fine...

    SureFire Dominator is coming

I don't think CREE was thinking about handheld flashlights when they spec'd the 36V forward voltage. With this kind of lumens, I'm surprised there is not a 14v -16v flavor for automotive use, although I guess they have something else for that.
