    4Sevens Preon Penlight Quickshot Review

I was pretty sure I was going to pass on the penlight until I read this. I am primarily these days a AAA user. I have had he Preon2 for several years and it is used a lot, but I wanted it for edc carry to compliment my Fenix LD01. But I quickly found wanted a light which came on in high mode...

    What are the modern equivilent

Sadly to say with the lack of responses that might that type option might be the best of poor substitutes. Too bad some attributes went down when others went up. The old cluster 5MM lights sure were not great for many uses, but some really gave some amazing runtimes and were very useful for...

    What are the modern equivilent

Throw is a non-issue in the original question. Not interested in a light with throw, or hundreds of lumens, I have plenty of those, and honestly 3, 4, 500+ lumen lights are boring, they have few practical uses for me. A couple lights in the 300 or slightly less lumen range for bedside and what...

    Emergency Preperations and disability

Watching the weather news today and given my current state of being gives rise to yet another issue with my current disability, have had recent hip replacement and am unable to walk without walker, bend, stretch, or reach. Accessablity of current items which may be needed in the next 12 to 24...

    What are the modern equivilent

Of the old Lightwave series. They had a unique charm and place in the flashlight world of being bright enough to light up a room by ceiling bounce and have yet runtimes into the weeks or even month of constant use. I remember reading the old Flashlight reviews sight and the story of his time...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I picked up a Shining Beam I-Mini with the dual bodies for AA and CR123, I use the AA body. It is carried daily in the second pouch of a dual magazine pouch. Have had it for several months and am very pleased. Why? Because I wanted a 1 cell AA light to go in my mag pouch which had decent...

    What watch you're wearing?

Thank you. Roland G Murphy watch company. RGM sponsors the Ultimate dive Watch forum, which I am a long time member of, and Roland asked the forum members to design a unique dive watch, and RGM would build it. That design was the Sea3 which is the first dive watch to have two timer bezels which...

Those tunes that get stuck in your head

Every year this time I play the southpark episodes on DVD so that the Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo song gets stuck in my wifes head all day at work. She finds herself humming it and ir drives her crazy. She usually calls me a very unsavory name when I start playing it.

    Photo Freedom saves the day

The little Photons have never failed me in perhaps 20 years, the vast majority of my daily lights use are below 25 lumens, even my morning paperwork and inspections. Higher lights don't do a better job of it, its all pretty close work, so why waste battery life.

    Which Proton Micro-Light

I have carried a Photon Freedom with covert nose on my key chain for a number of years, before that it was a Photon II, they have been my companions for what, 20 years? Since the year the II came out. They have never failed to get me out any situation I have asked of it. Too many people over...

    Photo Freedom saves the day

Have been sitting home for two weeks now after a hip replacement, today was the first trip outside to the doctors office. I was dressed in sweat pants and tshirt , having left my coat, and thus my Preon II in the waiting room. While sitting in the office the lights went out. The examination...

Looking for a Good Starter Flashlight

I use a Terralux Lightsaber 80 or Streamlight Stylus Pro for vehicle inspections every morning. Both are bright enough for the task and being AA good size to mouth hold when I am checking engines, the Terralux has a rubber bite pad which is nice. They work for me and have survived several years...
