I've been EDCing a 2 AA Mini-Mag off and on since 1997 in a belt holster and only burned out incandescent bulbs stopped it from working every time I needed it.
Thanks for the review Stephen. Since you have had experience with the old Terralux drop-in, I was very interested in your review. How does the throw distance of the new TLE-310M-EX compare to the old TLE-300M-EX?
I still have and use the TLE-300M-EX so I'm wondering if it's worth it to...
I think that it depends on how low the clouds are where you're shining your light. When I was on the shores of the Monterey Bay (California) on vacation, I was able to light up the low clouds with my Sunforce HID spotlight that I bought on sale for about $90. Further inland in the South Bay...
Thanks Igniteor for finding that voltage regulator on eBay. Please report how it works out in your spotlight.
Did you shim the Silverstar bulb in your reflector?
I think that there will still be markets for both HID spotlights and powerful LED flashlights as both have different purposes and both do their jobs well. Spotlights, as you mentioned, are a very cost effective way to light up distant objects. LED flashlights that can shine as far as my HID...

Then only light that I can remember losing was an old 2 AAA powered aluminum Brinkmann light that was a rip off of a Mini-Maglite. That was when I was a kid.
The box has absolutely no indication who actually made the light. It just says "Imported by Costco Wholesale Corporation" on the side. The front of the box says the following:
ITM./ART. 548284
The SKU number is 9364501515.
Tonight my wife and I went to see a movie. By the time it was over, all the other stores at the mall were closed and the parking lot was pretty deserted. There were a few questionable looking groups of teenagers milling around in the parking lot. It was dark and some of the lights in the...
I've bought all of mine on the internet. The local retailers have basically zero selection. I did find a place that sold a few 4 Sevens and Fenix flashlights the other day, but they were way overpriced.
