As far as I know Duracell didn't release these in the US because Energizer's patent is still valid of a few more years. Once that expires every manufacturer will have a version out.- Makitamike

Re: Nickel metal hydride battery The best way to store the battery is to completely discharge the battery. The best way to get a long life out of the battery is to only slightly discharge the cell. This is called DOD (Depth of discharge) you get many more cycles when the DOD is under 25%.- Makitamike

Panasonic NCR18650 (2900 mAh) & Pila IBC Experience: Very Warm.
One thing you could do to test the capacity is take the cells to a local Batteries Plus store depending where you live. They have machines to do capacity tests on all types of cells. My guess is the cells you purchased have little to no capacity left and that is why they are getting hot. I...- Makitamike
