Sold/Expired FS: Maglite 2C Hotwire Mod

Hi all, I have a black Maglite 2C w/ a Hotwire mod. It is using a high-voltage bulb with 3x CR123A cells. The sleeve is included. Everything works well. The beam is smooth, with very few artifacts. Great color rendition! :twothumbs Offering for sale at $40 plus shipping. Photos by request.

Best thing to do with flashlight if/when it goes critical?

I was wondering, as I await the arrival of my L2i, which I plan to use with 18650's, what the best plan of action would be with a flashlight that you think is about to go nuclear. Putting your thumb on the tailcap to try to switch it off would be suicidal, since that is a weak area and one...

    $27 Hobby Charger

Hi all, I'd been poring over the Consumer Li-ion cradle charger thread for the last few days, and the general consensus was that they're all pretty bad except for the Pila and Xtar WP2, and for my needs (everything from 10440 to 16850) I'd need multiple chargers. So I decided to go the hobby...

The things we Flashaholics get up to at night

It was a fairly normal day for me, and I was just about ready to get back to work after the holiday revelry. However, I needed something from my storage and delved into a box of things I recently got from storage... oh hey, what's this? The old Solitaire from way back when (2001!!) and it has an...

    Looking for a CR2-powered light

I was active on CPF way back in the day, and I had an original Firefly, among other esteemed lights like the Arc4 and a couple of custom lights by one respected modder here. However, I've been out of the swing of things and when I look around, I see (to my relief) that flashlights are a lot...

    T4 T5 Fluorescent Fixtures

I wanted to check out T5 lighting but finding T8 is hard enough... I saw one T5 fixture, but it was meant for a specific purpose (bathroom) and had a small tube and was expensive. T5 fixtures seem to be expensive on the web as well, what prices are you looking at?

    Purple SMD LEDs?

I have one of the players you are talking about, and I think white would be cooler.

    Self Ballasted Metal Halide bulbs?

Looking at where the discussion was going, I too think that it would have been better off in GLD.

Bored at work; neat pictures follow. *New Pics Added 3-13-07!*

Re: Bored at work; neat pictures follow. Wow, awesome photos. And I definitely remember those tiny bulbs that were used before LED/EL lighting. Wow, these photos are really awesome.

    Light bulb collections

What i'd like to know is how you photographed ... scratch that, how you were able to be in the same room as that extremely bright bulb. Do you have permanent eye spots on your retina now?

    Trouble with 3way CFL

I think you may need a special extender for the 3-way connection - I bet if you tried a 3-way incandescent bulb in the extender, it would work the same.

Raleigh wants to be "world's first" LED-lit city

My view: Don't believe the hype. LED is nowhere near a mature technology yet. LEDs may look cool in your computer case and give a brighter light than those tiny incandescent flashlight bulbs, but trying to replace big gas discharge bulbs with LEDs is just insanity. 1. LEDs need LOTS of...

Should this be in General Flashlight Discussion?

LED bulb news - 9W bulb for $65, uses 150 LEDs

I think these small 20 mA LEDs are useless for anything that needs more light than a nightlight. The real advances will be when Luxeon and other high-powered LEDs start getting cheaper and more efficient. You don't want an LED for flood lighting, you can easily use a fluorescent there. LEDs are...

LED bulb news - 9W bulb for $65, uses 150 LEDs

So I just caught wind of this LED bulb - uses 150 LEDs, 9 watts, and up to 594 lumens if you're willing to go without the cool looks.
