    Sold/Expired WTB: Old Zebralight's

You bumped this thread so I have to ask if you are interested in another H30? It's in great shape, rode in the car for a while and then ended up on the shelf. Has that great, simple UI: L, M, and H.

    Whats your Summer EDC?

My summer EDC is a Photon Freedom. This time of year there just isn't that much dark. In the winter I EDC a Surefire Titan-A. There is always something larger close by, if not then I carry my HDS.

The Ideal EDC Flashlight: A Comprehensive Essay and In-Depth Comparison

You've done a lot of thinking about your circumstances and based on your essay, I can't think of a light that fits your criteria better. If I could have only one flashlight it would be and HDS EDC. It does so many things well. Ultra low output, check. Immediate access to Hi, check. Runs many...

    Centurion C3 dillema

The M31W is a great choice with 2 x AA, but don't let anyone drop 3 x 123 in it! Poof isn't pretty. I have my C3 set up with a Makloff M61NL. It's bright enough for medium distance work and will run for 8 hours on a fresh set of 3 x 123s. My next favorite setup is the Malkoff M61NLL, runs...

Travel and camping lights of choice

If I'm backpacking I take two Surefire Titan-As and a light heads trap to allow one to be used as a headlamp. Maybe throw in a couple extra AAAs at most. If we're just packing in and day hiking from there I'll take slightly heavier gear, a Surefire Minimus MV and HDS EDC and a couple spare 123s...

Upgrade options for SF E2e ?

Another option is Malkoff Devices. They make several replacement heads, a couple of single output (350 and 700 lumens) and a multiple output (15/75/375 lumens) versions. Super high quality with "just screw it on" simplicity for around $100.

What flashlight you have in hand before you get into CPF?

I found CPF about the time LED flashlights became mainstream with angry blue 5mm emitters. I missed the whole high performance Incan era. Before CPF there were just MiniMags. Since Energizer L91s didn't exist, a steady stream of these died due to leaking alkaline cells. Fortunately the lights...

    Random thoughts on flashlight lifespan.

I have lights that fall into two categories; ones I want to use and ones I hope to never have to use. I want to use my EDC lights, my camping lights and my just for fun lights. I hope to never have to use a great many more, those in: cars, the truck, the boat, my BOB at work, and others. I...

    Your Oldest LED Flashlight?

Well all my angry blue lights are gone, even the Gerber Trio. So the oldest LED light is a B42 HDS. Yes it's had an emitter upgrade to a SSC P4 a while ago, but it still works great, about 80 lumens on high with a sweet neutral color. I have an even older MiniMag that's had a couple of upgrades...

    Surefire 300 minimus

Based on my qualitative experience, I believe that the Minimus MV does not suffer parasitic drain. The push button appears to provide positive shut off. I put a new Surefire 123 cell in my old Minimus when I got my new MV. The old Minimus has definitely drained, it won't sustain full output. The...

Flood/Throw - what do we really NEED? (a new epiphany from a not so new flashaholic)

Each user's needs are different, but for my needs I find that for 10-20 lumen walking around I want flood, more or less lumens and I start looking for some throw. I like the Surefire Titan A low output but find the high has too much flood. My Malkoff M361 isn't quite as floody on low as I would...

    a Man of Few Lights

I've tried to have just a few lighst, but this resulted in me carrying too many around. Instead, I carry only a couple very small lights, but have larger lights close at hand in most locations. EDC: Photon Freedom, SF-TitanA Ultra-low HDS EDC HCRI xp-g2: Master bedroom, Camping...

    Surefire E1B MaxVision discussion

Just noticed that the Surefire website has the E1B MV priced at $149! It went into my cart at that price, so I'm assuming it can be bought. That's a significant price cut.
