What LED flashlight is sitting on your nightstand?

Re: What light do you keep on your nightstand? Do you plan on blinding the other person, or yourself? Cuz those 2 will just blind you as well with back spill. Go try some of your lights after you've been asleep for a few hours, and see if you really need 400lm. Seriously. Set your alarm...

    Self Defense Light

SF Z2 or C2, bought used in the marketplace. Probably coudl be < 100. Can add in an LED if you feel like it for about $30. I'd avoid any Jetbeam or Olight - some folks have had good thoughts, my olight "tactical" broke after falling out of my pocket onto a hospital floor.

    What job do you do?

Re: Already asked? What do you do for a living? Navy doctor. Lights useful when the BAS overhead lights just aren't up to task. Never lost a light in someone either ... Though sometimes wish I didn't look.

Military Headlamps (Method you use your light?)

I'm AD Navy, attached to Army. I use mainly a hand light, though I recently picked up 2 zebralights, I still use them as handheld (or clipped to something). The headlamp I have is a Petzyl, it's decent, but more flood than throw. Also kind of bright for up close work. The red filter is very...

Civilian EDC flashlight recommendations (from checklist template) --noob

Yeah, you want the EveryLight. Something bright enough to light 180 yards is going to practically blind you if you use it at 1 yard. The only lights that'll reliable throw that far will have smooth reflectors, ie, tight hotspots and and probably minimal flood. So, even if you have a...

Overwhelmed: Looking for Advice on Nightstand/home Defense Light

Before you go dropping a couple hundred bucks on a crazy bright light, better make sure you can use it first. I mean, there's a lot of light reflection if you're shining at an angle through a window. You might end up waving that light all over as you blind yourself too.

E2D LED head on a 1 cell E series body?

i've done it, definitely not the same output. I swap heads sometimes - a red or a white one - depending what I do. I only have a one-stage E1L, so no 2-mode for me.

Why aren't there more dedicated handgun mounted flashlights?

I would assume b/c most manufacturers are in Asia? Ie, smaller market in general. I also assume that even in the US, there's not a HUGE market for those lights. Plus, given size constraints, there's only so much you can do with the battery options available.

    SF Weapon light HELP!

I don't know about that specific light, but believe me, 100 lumens is FINE, esp if you're doing distances < 30-40 yards. Is this a "home defense" shotgun? If so, set your alarm for 2am. Get your shotgun, (unloaded, or course), and shine it down your hall as if you were aiming down it. Now...
