    Blade Serrations

I'm probably the voice of dissention here, but I really don't see a purpose for a half and half knife when it comes to serrations. Actually, if you want my honest opinion, serrations have very little use on a knife. They are nice for cutting rope, or other flexible objects, but the vast...

    Seeking LED Recoomendation

I've heard a lot of good things about the UK 2AAA eLED. Thinking of picking one up for myself one of these days! Seems like a great solution for the price tag!

    Streamlight task

Just my $0.02. I too like the outdoors, and do a lot of camping, hiking and hunting. My one word of caution is that, while a bright light is useful when trying to find something in the dark, I find dimmer lights (or lights that can be dimmed through the use of a filter) more helpful at night...

I'm Holding My First "real" Flashlight!!!

Re: I\'m Holding My First \"real\" Flashlight!!! Quick question to all about my new tool (read toy). I notice that the word "OUTDOORSMAN" reads from bezel to tailcap on my light. I also notice that this is different in other pictures of the same light?! What's up with this? Is this normal...

Re: I\'m Holding My First \"real\" Flashlight!!! [ QUOTE ] MrBenchmark said: That's really a beautifully made light for your first high-end flashlight! [/ QUOTE ] It's funny. I never would have thought of a flashlight as a beautiful thing till I actually held one of these really well made...

I'm Holding My First "real" Flashlight!!!

I\'m Holding My First \"real\" Flashlight!!! Well -- thanks to a very generous friend, I am officially holding my first "Real" flashlight, a Surefire E2o. All I can say is WOW!!! The story behind this is actually quite amazing! A friend of mine was forced to purchase a light...

    Tactical?

That's a good question around here! I think the term tactical is one of the most mis-understood of all in the flashlight world, simply because there are so many definitions. On one hand, I think the concept of calling a light such as the Surefire E series tactical is mis-labeling them. Yes...

Thinking of getting a SF A2. Opinions?

Congrats on the A2! I was / am seriously looking at one. I would probably mainly use the LED feature, but would really enjoy having the Incan for those moments when you just need great throw. One question that I've not found a sure answer on -- Are filters available for the A2 Bezel? I...

Need penlight for brother, need advise

[ QUOTE ] Double_A said: Haven't most of the CPF members in a medical related field here already weighed in that LEDs are out because of their poor color rendering? or am I confusing this issue with something else? [/ QUOTE ] Now that you mention it, I belive you are correct and I was...

Need penlight for brother, need advise

I would lean toward a high quality white LED for tissue recognition. Any tint to a light would seem to make this task harder, and as the batteries weaken, non led lights tend to turn a little yellow. A very nice gesture for your brother!

    New to light

[ QUOTE ] MrBenchmark said: I hear this a lot, but I'm really skeptical. If you run into a *highly trained* attacker, you are pretty much screwed unless: 1. You are also highly trained 2. You are experienced with, and are carrying, a firearm I submit, however, that the most probable violent...

    We're a happening place

Re: We\'re a happening place That is truely impressive. Good job Admins keeping CPF's engine running cleanly! This BB Software / Server combo really seems to handle large loads well. I've been impressed in my short time here... and I'm a literate computer programmer!!! (read: "nerd")

    New to light

As AuroraLite has pointed out, *please* don't assume that just because you have a tool / weapon like an E2D, you can overcome an opponant. More than likely, the trained attacker will simply take away your E2D and hit you over the head with it. No joke. Anyone highly trained with hand to hand...
