    [Review] - Fenix PD40R v2.0 - 3000 lumen, Rotary Switch, 21700 , TypeC - by Lock

As mentioned above, those runtime graphs don't make much sense as turbo mode is giving much higher lumen-hours than high mode. https://zeroair.org/2021/05/20/fenix-pd40r-v2-0-flashlight-review/ This is another review I found on the PD40r V2.0 showing very detailed runtime plots in turbo and...

    LED for 2D Maglite

It's not a bad drop-in module, but that's some crazy exaggeration. 1) You're probably confusing throw and output, as the output doesn't even come close to a 1000lm light. 2) This is not a halogen tint. This is cool white; around 6000K. Halogen is around 3000K. 3) When defocused, this has...

Noob question - LED, Lipo but is all right

This product is advertised as having a 6-12V operating voltage and uses resistor drive with a built in resistor. The only way to have such a broad operating voltage is by using a high value resistor relative to the LED, which means that it is running very inefficiently. Using a Lipo is...

Are there any 18650 lights that have no stepdown at 1000 lumens?

You won't get flat regulation from any 1000lm 1 x 18650 light as this would require a ~3A boost/buck driver which doesn't exist as far as I know. Check out the Oveready M2 Mini turbohead with XM-L2 or XP-L. It is direct drive and it maintains over 1000lm throughout most of the runtime. It...

Flashlights in TV shows and movies (Part 4)

Surefire M6's are used on Vampire diaries. I'm pretty sure these are genuine Surefires and not clones. They would appear to have LED drop-ins and a clicky tail switch. I recognise the beam pattern as an LED drop-in with an M6 reflector and in one of the episodes, Alaric can be seen clicking...

    Sold/Expired TNT Surefire L & A series (LX2, L1, L2, A2) modding services...

I received my modded LX2 head from Tana today! Just a straight reflector and XP-G2 emitter swap with everything else kept as stock. Great workmanship; it looks as though it came out of the factory this way. The beam pattern and tint are improved. Output is improved and surprisingly, the...

    parallel LEDs & resistor

Does it have to be 10 LEDs? If you used 12 LEDs in a 6s2p configuration (6 series x 2 parallel), you could use lower power rated resistors and there would be less wasted power too. (More light for the same total power consumption).

    parallel LEDs & resistor

In the setup you've described, only a small fraction of the power is going into the LEDs and the rest is being dissipated as heat through the resistor. This is why the calculator you are using gave you such a ridiculous value of 200W for the resistor. Connecting all the LEDs (~3V) in parallel...

    Cree Xp-G3 LED

Re: Cree Xp-G3 LED ?? The die doesn't look any bigger to me, just that the phosphor is overlapping the edges of the die. EDIT: It says in the press release that the lumen density is improved which means more lumens/mm^2 die area.

    Acebeam K60 (XHP70, 4x18650) Review: RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, VIDEO +

Thanks ven. The pre-flash is pretty subtle to be honest. On my light, as soon as you turn the ring from 1lm to 50lm, it jumps up to let's say 200lm for 1/10s then back down to 50lm. Most people probably wouldn't even notice it unless it was pointed out to them. ... Must ... not ... get ...

    Acebeam K60 (XHP70, 4x18650) Review: RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, VIDEO +

Finally got my K60 today. Took 17 days from HK (HKequipment) to UK. I can confirm that the Eagletac 3500mAh protected cells fit and seem to work fine. This is a truly awesome light. These are my opinions on the light (nothing that hasn't been said already): Pros Obnoxiously bright Decent...

Is Wicked Lasers over? Who is next?

You're not going to get many supporters here, but I agree 100%. These things are fine in the hands of a responsible knowledgable adult, but you can't control the type of people who use them. Unfortunately, powerful lasers are still very easy to get hold of. A lot of the ebay lasers from HK...

    Not much knowledge

Duracell Procell is pretty much the same thing as the regular store bought Duracell alkaline batteries. It will work with the Fenix E12, but it will dim down very quickly on high mode.

    Not much knowledge

If you're using the light regularly and therefore changing batteries regularly, then the chances of an alkaline cell leaking out and ruining your light are non-existent. The real problem with alkaline is that it is unsuitable for high drain applications such as high powered flashlights. You...

    Surefire peacekeeper vs Surefire EB2

The EB2 uses the Osram Oslon square emitter, which tends to have a greenish tint. The 500lm output only lasts for a couple of minutes, and will throttle down to about 300lm to prevent overheating. The P1R peacekeeper uses the Cree XM-L2 which generally has a better tint. The Peacekeeper is...
