I'd like to throw my hat in for a tentative "I'll be there". I just moved yesterday. I'm still in the Bay Area, but I have to get settled in. I'm 80% sure I'll be able to make it.
I don't have too many new or unique lights, but I'll at least bring my trusty ol' SF L2, Milky Candle, and...
I like the yellow, even if it looks a little dirty - it's my worklight, so it should be dirty anyway! It's really easy to find if I set it down or drop it somewhere.
Optics HQ are good people.
Just working with what I've got.
I searched here and in the headlamp forum, but only got info for emitter and reflector swaps.
I'll dig a little deeper, but I'd still like to do this mod.
I've never soldered before in my life, so I'm not quite ready to start replacing stars, but what I would like to do is make my PT EOS run off a Li-ion 18650 instead of the stock 3aaa. I'm thinking about using a plastic match cases as a battery holder attached to the headstrap and running wires...
I've got a couple of the new wolf-eyes lamps in 3.7v and 9v coming in the mail, but I need hosts for them. I have a SF G2 that I'm going to put one of the 3.7v lamps in with one of the new protected 17670s from AW. I need a few other 2x cr123 hosts to play around with and maybe give as a gift. I...
Re: 2C ROP Hi on 18650 - need some help please
Man, if you would have said something a week ago, I would have sent a few with a friend that left for Perth on Thursday. I'm sure that shipping in-country would have been a lot cheaper.
Let us know how it works out.
There's a lot of good comments here to give you a feel for the L2, but you really need to evaluate YOUR reasons for wanting to own this light. It's probably not the best light at any of the things it does, but it does do a lot of things well. It's sort of a jack of all trades, master of none...
Well, a 3 AAA to C adapter is not that bad of an idea. In my backpacking days I used to have everything standerized to AAA. Headlamp, radio, etc. If I needed or wanted to use something that took Cs then an AAA adapter would be great.
But I do agree that AAs are better if you're not trying to...
I just don't know if it's "wasted" energy. It does get paid for after all, just like if you want to spay your sidewalk off instead of sweeping it. You pay for the convenience of it. You can always unplug whatever's not used, or shutdown your computer or printer to save that $8 per year. But I...
Forgive me if this belongs in the Cafe, but it's still flashlight related. Please move it if necesary.
I saw this today in the San Francico Chronicle:

Seems the .gov here in CA wants to make wall-warts more efficient...
