Mini Mag LED 2xAA seems like a killer light. Period.

I picked up the 3AA Mini-Mag at WalMart. I wanted to get the 2AA, but they were out of stock at the time. I like it a lot more than I expected to. The length takes a bit of getting used to, but I thought it might be awkward to handle, and it isn't. The balance is nice. It is surprisingly...

    LED scrolling nametags

I purchased a unit that looked almost exactly like that one several years ago from a company called bannerbadge.com (web site is still there, but inactive...). It is very easy to program with a PC, and you can even set the scroll rate. (One time is set it up with a v e r y s l o w scroll...

    Owners of the Inova X1

As others have said, it's built like a tank. I have a T5 and one of the newer reflector versions of the T1. I am quite certain that you could drive a truck over either light without any damage. The aluminum walls are very thick compated to most flashlights (I think you can see this in the...

(FAILED) Sign up for AAA 1w Lux made by the CPF Family

Re: Sign up for AAA 1w Lux made by the CPF Family I'll definitely go for 1 base model, and 1 advanced depending on final price. MVB

Fenix L1P: variations in spill beam signature

Well, I'm not a Lux expert or anything, but here's more reference data for you: I was very lucky with my single L1P purchase. It has the least tint of the 8 or so Luxeons I own; I can't really detect any tint at all, it's just WHITE. (The next best that I have is a SL Pro Poly Luxeon that has...

MagLite news, they will be offering LED lights

Absolutely! But, as has been pointed out in these forums, one of the best aftermarket deals going on at present is the Nite-Ize drop-in LED module being sold at Walmart for under five bucks. (I think it's $4.87) It is positioned (at least at all the Walmarts I've looked at) right next to the...

LEDs creating a new definition of 'light fixture'?

Take a look at the following article: http://www.lrc.rpi.edu/resources/news/pressreleases/electronicWalls.asp Another innovative application of LEDs that we may or may not ever see in our homes. MVB

    I think I've killed my fenix l1p

In addition to what BlackDecker suggested, have you checked to see if the plastic switch-retaining ring (edit: it's a metal ring) is screwed all the way in? Some of them are shipped from the factory with the ring a little loose (including mine) and if the ring is loose you can have switching...

Woot! Streamlight 4AA Luxeon came in today! My thoughts inside...

I have couple of blue tinted luxeon lights (and one with a green tint...), but my 4AA Propoly Luxeon is not one of them. It has a very white beam color, and I really like the throw. It's the one I reach for if I want a "full size" flashlight, rather than a smaller EDC type light.

Inova Blue Photon Black spot ?

Do you mean the Inova Microlight? The Photon is made by LRI, not Inova. My blue Inova Microlight does not have what I would call a black spot, but it does have a very swirly, uneven beam. It looks more like sone sort of modern art than a flashkight beam, so an uneven beam may be typical of...

Do you agree Photon Freedom should have the following?

Actually, you don't need to remove the batteries to do this, just hold down the button for about 20 seconds. (It works this way on my Freedon 2X, and is what the LRI instructions say to do.)

    Fenix L1P review - FlashlightReviews.com

Carefull reading of the review reveals this: "A wrist lanyard is attached ... " so evidently Doug's arrived already installed. Perhaps this is the case with all the lights that ship in the retail box. (I got mine without the box, as I suspect many CPFers did, and the lanyard wasn't attached.)...

So my wife is a Crime Scene Investigation nut - what flashlights?

Streamlight makes the Stylus (2xAAAA pen light) in a UV version. I think it uses a ~365nm LED, and I've seen them on eBay for less than $20. I don't have the UV version, but I do have one with a white LED and it has a sort of a "police" feel to it... The Stylus would actually seem to be a...

what's the advantage of the X5 blue over the X5 white?

I think it's mostly personal preference, but the color may also depend on what you're going to use it for. If you need to distinguish colors, you must use a "white' light. But if you want to be seen, then the blue light will probably stand out better. In theory, blue LEDs are brighter than...

Target is selling AIT Nightstar!! (Batteryless flashlight)

It's probably mostly an issue of where the light is stored (the interior of a car can reach 150 degrees (F) in summer sunlight). Lithiums don't mind the cold, though, so freezing isn't likely to be an issue. But extreme temperature cycles over a long period of time are likely to make any...
