How many people are still using the Fenix old model? you know, like the P1D, L2D, etc

I still carry around the Fenix Civictor as my pocket light after trying many others of more advanced technology. Solid, stubby and simple feels right for me.

    Maratac AAA Q5

Re: County Comm Maratac AAA Q5 Also, this type usually conducts current through the threads, where lubricant or oxidation can make for iffy current flow. The spring loaded type conducts current (usually) directly between the body end and the PCB, which is better.

Disorienting military strobe light from WWII

Interesting article about UK developing disorienting lights in WWII era. They did tests and for some applications (not including stopping a mugger...), it does work.

Should emitter lumen readings stop being advertised?

Advertising is of course something we can't control at all. If we could, then I'd probably start with the cheap land adverts on TV rather than flashlight lumens. The only defense against misleading claims is knowledge, which is what our whole candlepower thing is about. Our reviewers all -...

    Who grabs a bright light...

If you're by yourself (or have a real understanding family present), you can also grab your favorite weapon. Something appropriate for the monster, if possible, but not necessary. No bullets, though.....

Failure rate of Kaidomain AAA buckle light V5 *only*

Oops. Clicked before I read. 2 of 2 of mine work, but they are pre-V5. Sorry...

I might need a shotgun. please share your security idea.

Lots of response as the topic is a passionate one for many people. I've little to add (I think Paintballdad said it first - you've got to believe in the deadly force thing first). My only 2 cents is that everyone seems to be talking about 12 guages. If you're not familiar with weapons, I...

    What is throw to you?

Technically, throw is the square root of the lux a light delivers at center beam at one meter, i.e. it is the range in meters at which the light will deliver one lux illumination level to a target. One lux is fairly dim, so in practice it is the range in meters at which the beam (to the average...

Torture Test - How would you impress?

You probably wouldn't need to make the whole can transparent. Somehow putting an inch or two transparent window into the can lid would do the trick if you had the house lights low and kept looking from above.

Lights that allured me to buy but i didnt!

Some things to help you resist. 1: take all your current lights out, put batteries in them, and place them before you. Run your hands over them, pick them up, see how well they're made and how bright they are. Pick one and use it for hour or so, and then look at the ad for that alluring again...

Torture Test - How would you impress?

If you want a relevent torture test, I'd suggest testing how long the light survived a stressful environment, not how well it survived a single unlikely extreme event, like getting crushed. So, for 2 lights, get 2 empty gallon paint cans. Put one light in each with batteries. Put on the lid...

    Best 'compact' 18650 flashlight?

To the OP: have you considered the Sgt. Burkett light? It's a twisty so it's smaller, and litemania has a good reputation for quality. Don't have one, just a thought...

    Water powered car It's Here!

Uh...I think it's an electrically powered, water propelled car; and if you think of how the electricity to power the car was made (by burning oil or coal), then it is a fossil fuel powered, water propelled car. But still impressive...

What you'd like to see in new Fenix flashlights

I'm easy to please. Just give me a lug style 1xAAA rear body (like the Arc AAA). Put it on an E0 type body (smaller than E01, with full ring neg contact on the PCB instead of the 2 point contact of the E01), stick the E01 LED and driver in it, keep it at $15, and it would be perfect. Charge...
