Anyone with the ASP Triad (tri-LED)?

I had an L4 that I sold. Surefire just never did it for me. They are good lights, but I never liked them. ASP triad has a helluva lot more throw, but more than adequate spill. Steve Vance's review is the best in terms of describing the beam. Kind of a cone. Very intense hotspot, with a...

Anyone with the ASP Triad (tri-LED)?

I have one and I love it. Very bright, good mix of flood and throw. The center hotspot is intense, while the sidespill/corona is more than adequate for navigating. Construction is very high quality. I especially like the grip, it has the ASP foam on it and would not make your hand cold on a...

    ASP Triad holster

I have a question for ASP Triad LED owners, especially any LEOs. What are you using for a holster? I have the 2 cell model. I need a holster for this light that will fit on my duty belt (2.25"), preferably snap not velcro, but I'm not too picky since there don't seem to be any holsters made for...

    Personal Defense

ASP Triad LED. I have one and it is a great light. It is probably brighter than any of the lights you listed. This light is more than enough to illuminate/identify a threat. I don't put any of my eggs in the "temporarily blind an attacker" basket.

    Cheap Ultrafire knives, any thoughts?

:thumbsdow Don't do it. What the heck does "quality hardened" mean? As opposed to what?!? When I buy a knife I assume that it has been heat treated... That's like going to a restaurant and ordering the "fully cooked chicken breast sandwich." A purchase like this will come back to bite...

    Pseudo-Ruhla watch? (and other automatics)

 Awesome choice, man. I have a 007 (same as the 173 but with round hour markers) I wear on a black zulu. I should have gotten the 173 though, because I like the look of the square markers better. You will not be disappointed! The way the second hand sweeps instead of "ticks"...

    EDC a custom Sebenza?

If you're not going to ever sell it (and you're absolutely sure about it), then use it in good health.

    Woodsaw cleaning on multitools

Mineral spirits and an old toothbrush, hold the tool so none of the runoff goes into the hinges.

Looking for a good pocket knife

Spyderco Dragonfly http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=3809 Blade Material: ATS-55 Blade The plain edge, not the fully serrated one. That's the one right there. One of the only knives I've seen a girl say "cool knife!" after she used it, so you know it has it going on. ;)

    Bought a new backpacking stove.

CChurchi, the MSR stoves are a little finnicky, but once you get to know it, you'll probably love it. That is what happened with me anyways. You can get it to simmer by not pumping up the fuel bottle as much as directed. By doing this, I can get my Whisperlite (considered one of the least...

    Question for Consideration

    Heck yeah!

    Is this a good knife?

There is a big difference between Strider and the Strider-Buck collaboration knives. If someone has unlimited funds, I would suggest Strider every time. At the $100 or less level, Spyderco is probably the best value out there.

If you were a cop/are a cop, would you use a modified light?

My Dept. issues 3D mags. I bought a 3D pentalux from Elektrolumens to keep a uniform appearance but much more light. I have complete confidence in this light, and it is serving me very well. I would not, however, carry a light that I modded myself, or by someone who did not have a long history...

    Is this a good knife?

Yes, both are fine knives. I would lean towards the Spyderco, though. The Spydie will have a much nicer edge out of the box, and will be a better cutter overall.

Looking for a good pocket knife

Damascus is not a type of steel per se, as much as a style. Its properties are not as easily reduceable to numbers as "normal" alloys. Even a single type of steel such as 154CM can be heat treated in a variety of ways so as to have different characteristics, depending on the application (i.e...
