Compact headlamp suggestions for the blind/visually impaired???

In my opinion, a lamp with adjustable focus, can be helpful for visual impairments. Those lamps have an adjustable beam width. So they have a wide beam for close distances, and a brighter narrow beam for further away, without draining the batteries too much. There are hand-held flashlights...

Compact headlamp suggestions for the blind/visually impaired???

Headlamp manufacturers and vendors should target the visually impaired specifically in their marketing strategies. This would be very profitable to all involved parties IMO. Moderately visually impaired persons need at least 120 lumens IMO. (Severely visually impaired patients might even need...

    Non-flammable lithium batteries?

Thanks. Is there a reliable scientific source of this information on the internet?

    Non-flammable lithium batteries?

I heve read about the recent development of lithium batteries that are non-flammable and non explosive. Are these batteries already for sale? If so, under which brand names? And are they a useful alternative for lithium batteries in flashlights?

Fenix MC11 angle light with 87 lumens maximum

I have some questions about the Fenix MC11 angle light, with a maximum of 87 lumens. So these questions are not concerning the latest MC11 version with 155 lumens burst mode. Is it possible for consumers to take off the belt clip, and put it back on the MC11 later? I am asking this, because...

    Strange Fenix MC11 problem

Sorry, I didn't read the end of this discussion. But yet I want to respond. IMHO if you are that critical about the quality of the products that you buy, you better buy via a regular local distributor. And if your father would ever stumble upon this technical problem (which I doubt), he can...

Power Outage, How many Lumens, How many batteries? (for lights and more)

IMO each person needs his own battery light in a long term power outage. And disaster preparation should better be for much harsher situations like a flood or nuclear fallout scenario. So don't count on recharge possibilities, since your car might be stolen or vandalised, or out of gas, etc. I...

Which aspheric light? (extremely narrow beam, 1x AA or 2x AA batteries)

Thanks for your detailed reply. I like a very narrow beam, because it saves battery time, while delivering equally bright light on one spot, as a flashlight with much more lumens. And I strongly prefer AA NiMH batteries over lithium because of their safety, wide availability and low cost.

Which aspheric light? (extremely narrow beam, 1x AA or 2x AA batteries)

Thanks a lot Dr.444! Which other flashlights fall in this category (narrow beam, 1x AA or 2x AA batteries)? A fixed beam pattern in throw mode is fine. So I don't need adjustable focus.

Which aspheric light? (extremely narrow beam, 1x AA or 2x AA batteries)

I am looking for a LED flashlight with a very narrow beam, using one or two AA batteries. On this wish, I was advised to look for an 'aspheric light'. Which aspheric lights could I consider?

    Using laser as flashlight?

Thanks Illum. That is an eye opener for me. Which aspheric lights do you recommend with one AA battery, and with two AA batteries?

    Using laser as flashlight?

I want a flashlight with extreme throw in stead of spill. So it needs to have a very narrow beam pattern, more than the focusable flashlights that I know have, like the Mini Maglite Led and Led Lenser flashlights. My goal with this, is a flashlight that is extremely bright in one spot, while...

    Emergency Food

Uncooked beans, peas and rice cannot be eaten without cooking. So they are not the best choice for survival food. For example, if you are stuck in a collapsed house and wounded and ill, you may not be able to cook. Or if you are in a dug out shelter with little ventilation, or in a boat, or...
