    Charger intimidation! How to choose??

What about the Maha C800S? I'm in the same boat looking for a charger though I need to charge up to 8 AA Ni-MH cells at a time (2x 4AA packs). My current chargers are the ones that came with an older Panasonic AA set. The charger is a rapid charger at 550mAh and heats up the cells to the point...

Anyone know where to get Li-Ion in Canada?

I've been looking for some Li-Ion batteries (18650's) preferably in a 2S2P pack and have not been able to find anything in Canada. No that I won't order from the US but the duty getting things over the border is a killer. Anyone know where to get Li-Ion cells or battery packs in the great...

    Dynamo mount for carbon fork?

unterhausen, thanks for the velo orange info. Not a bad low cost option.

Need Strong Light for Cycling to See the Road!

vga4him, For a commercial tail light the 140 is a great option. Some may think (as I did before I got it) that it is overkill but I think it can easily help save someones life as it projects such a huge amount of light compared to your typical blinky. And I mean huge amount of light in...

Need Strong Light for Cycling to See the Road!

vga4him, If after reviewing your options you end up getting a DiNotte 200L I don't think you will be disappointed. I have one and it works well as a road light. I run mine on 4AA Ni-Mh batteries and get 2.5-4hrs of runtime depending on how much the light is on high. I have found that for me...

Handle solder an XR-E or XP-E?

Tekno_Cowboy, I use a simple 25w soldering iron. I've done Luxeon K2's before and have descent soldering skills. Just was not sure on how small the contact point is for an XR-E or XP-E to hand solder it. I'm looking to do a 3 LED light and don't need to necessarily put the LEDs on an PCB if...

Handle solder an XR-E or XP-E?

I was wondering if anyone had success in hand soldering either an XR-E or XP-LED. I've found a local supplier though they are just the LED without MCPCB attached. In reading the data sheets for both they look like they would be a tricky hand solder and recommend re-flow soldering.

    cables, what do you use?

    Maxflex/Martin PCB question

znomit, thanks for the insight. I hadn't looked at the Cree R2. It looks like it puts out 114lm at 350mA - thats kick butt. Where are you folks getting your Cree R2's from? I see them on DX and Cutter but that is all I have found so far.

    Maxflex/Martin PCB question

I'm thinking of using the MaxFlex v4 in a new light. The MaxFlex will drive 3 Luxeon K2 (200lm - 3.65Vf each) in series using a 4xAA lithium (3000 mAh) battery pack or 6xAA Ni-Mh battery pack (2650 mAh). Part of my intent on going this route is I could in theory use the same light hooked up to...

    Dynamo mount for carbon fork?

Has anyone come across a dynamo mount for carbon forks? I'm interested in running something like a DYMOTEC 6 and don't want to mess up my nice forks.

CREE MCE question mA and vf

BillyNoMates, nothing wrong with your first light. I consider the first light I made my proto-type to prove things out. Yours has a lot of LED's - must be really bright on full power. I don't have a dynamo rig yet - just trying to prove out the idea to see if I want to venture there and it...

CREE MCE question mA and vf

BillyNoMates, 5xRebel would certainly soak the ground with light. I hadn't seen this optic before for the Luxeon Rebel - 12 degrees is not too bad for throw. Is this for off-road use? I checked out their other optics and I like the square CNC version as its 21.6mmx21.6mm - something I can...

Its ok I figured it out - just needed to think it through as to how the circuit was connected.

Which commerically available bike light offers best lumens per dolllar ratio?

Sygysy I'd have to save the DiNotte 200L you can pick them up in the US for <$100 w/o batter pack and run on 4xAA lithium batteries or 4xAA ni-mh batteries. All this with 200 lumens. I have one of these and I liked it so much I built another. The tail light 140L (similar price) is also a...
