Most lumens/Watt (LED) - Outdoor lighting, no concern for light quality

Re: Most lumens/Watt - Outdoor lighting, no concern for light quality Thanks for the info. I'm simply looking for something that will screw into a normal bulb fixture that's mounted on the garage. I figured that LED would be the way to go for that.

Most lumens/Watt (LED) - Outdoor lighting, no concern for light quality

I'm looking for the highest efficiency LED bulb that can be purchased. It will be for an outdoor security light so my primary concern is lowest operating cost. The brighter the better. I currently have an EcoSmart 1100 lumen bulb that uses about 11 or 12 Watts so it's nearly 100 lumens/Watt. Is...

    Utilitech 60 Watt LED review

I don't know if you were talking to me or not, but I'd love to see mine in a museum in the future.

New Utilitech 1100 lumen remote phosphor LED bulb

I just picked one up a few days ago. So far so good. It does run a bit hot, but that just means that the heat is actually getting from the LEDs to the heatsink so I'd say that is a good thing. I'll probably have a better review in a few weeks.

    My Switch 60 Video Review

I decided to investigate the pulse width modulation effects a little bit more. I'm very sensitive to PWM (I cannot watch DLP projectors because I see horrible amounts of rainbow effects) so maybe not everyone will have this problem. Below is a picture that I took of the bulb while panning...

    My Switch 60 Video Review

I've noticed that it appears like the Switch60 bulb uses some form of pulse width modulation. It is subtle, but to my sensitive eyes, I do tend to get strobing of fast moving objects. It is subtle enough that I'm always wondering if it is true or not, but that actually makes it worse because it...

    My Switch 60 Video Review

I'll have to try that and let you know. Also, I wouldn't really say that the liquid cooling isn't doing very much. The fluid does circulate via convection, my main point is that it appears that the glass bulb is an insulator that prevents the heat from transferring from the fluid to the air. I...

    My Switch 60 Video Review

Here is a video overview/review of the new Switch 60 LED Bulb. I didn't mention the light quality in my review, but afterward I put it in my closet fixture and the first thing that I noticed was the very good color rendering. It was comparable to the Philips L-Prize bulb which has a 92 CRI (by...

Has anybody had an LED bulb fail yet?

I currently own seven LED bulbs and they are all still going strong. My most used one probably has 2000-3000 hours of use. Has anybody experienced a failure? What brand?

Sylvania Ultra LED 14w 1100 Lumen (like incan 75w)...

This is very true! The savings are great compared to incan, but marginal compared to CFL. I'm waiting for the technology to mature to 200lm/W...then we'll really have something.

Is anybody able to buy some of the Philips L-Prize bulbs for me at the subsidized $$?

This is kind of crazy. Maybe someone should contact their congressman and complain about awarding $10M to Philips and them not holding up the terms of the prize.

Phillips led bulbs now showing manufacturing cost savings

Where can you find them for this price? Home Depot still shows $25.

Is anybody able to buy some of the Philips L-Prize bulbs for me at the subsidized $$?

Yeah, it's a shame. These things were supposed to be $20 according to the rules of the government competition they won (they won millions of tax payer dollars).
